Outsourced Binders bound the wrong side

Thanks for the feedback all. Definitely will send all future orders with a dummy. I just can't get over the incompetance, it was so blatantly obvious which was the front page that they must never have even looked, which in a way makes me think they mightn't have even checked for a dummy...

Outsourced Binders bound the wrong side

Hi all, Just printed a booklet for an artist's exhibition at a gallery and sent out for perfect binding. When I collected it they had bound on the wrong side, so the booklet was back to front inside. There was no page numbers but the opening page was a title page with usual "Presenting" etc...

    Versant ‘Overkill’ Toner Boxes

Can't be that old as they have V280 printed on the side.

    Down sizing, need recommendation

Do you mind me asking why you sold the V180? To me that would have been a straight forward move to keep so wondering why you didn't.

    Versant 3100 / 4100 or Iridesse

3100 will be end of life very soon so I'd remove that from the list.

Scoring and Folding for Digital Tri-fold Brochures

We use a morgana auto creaser and major folder. Absolute workhorses, very well made. Haven't used one but the Morgana Digifold I think would be a good shout as can do both in one.

    offline booklet maker

Haven't come across any issues. I just set the stock to lowest GSM. I don't do it that often and generally break the job up with standard printing jobs.

    offline booklet maker

A bit off topic but I discovered the other day our v280 doesn't register a blank page as any click so have been using it as a booklet maker on smaller size books. Also they don't charge me when I order staples so must be included as consumables.

    regular 10k booklet run

This will never be economical to bring in-house. The print house you used have probably learnt their lesson with already having to reprint it. I'd just give them a warning each time you send in the job and speak with your account manager to emphasis the quality you need in future.

Is there a way to fake a bleed?

It's messy, as in trial and error, but you should be able to go into the paper alignment and adjust settings there to have the image enlarge and run to at least some of the edges. I've not tried it but I've had my machine (V280) do it by accident when setting up.

    Versant 280 Creasing

That's true but 1-2 months is crazy for constant failures on that. Something must be causing the premature failure.

    Realistic Volume Expectations - v900

I would have said that's about right for that production level machine. What did they suggest? Were they trying to push you to a higher model or mulitple v900s? How far off is 4k a day from what you currently do?

    New Click Rates - 2025

Sorry I'm not saying you accept what's offered as the rate, you still have to negociate, but your only leverage is other vendors quotes, you can't negociate saying we'll I know someone on x rate so give me that. If you have 5 vendors in your area you get quotes off each of them and play them...

    New Click Rates - 2025

At the end of the day, I always feel it doesn't matter what others are getting, only relevant what YOU are currently being offered. Ask all your suppliers for quotes and that's your choices.
