NO!!!! Photoshop is NOT a PDF RIP. The results you obtain when opening a PDF up in Photoshop are purely for image import. You should NEVER EVER EVER (did I say that enough???) use it for anything else!!

that would be a BAD assumption. As long as you gave the permission to PRINT the PDF, there is no reason that a RIP shouldn't be able to print. What if you open in Acrobat and print directly?

Because Separation All means that the object should appear on ALL plates but doesn't actually have a real color associated with it. Converting it to grayscale will cause it to appear ONLY on the black plate.
