getting working files from graphic designers?

thank you. honestly - we don't really have processes. various people from different departments in different continents just contract out design and print work to external places without any coordination or consistency. i'm trying to in-source some of the printing now that we have capacity in...

getting working files from graphic designers?

Thanks for this! I think colour management training is definitely high on the agenda! The designers are all external businesses so we're specifying a product like you say. I won't be using any unlicensed software either fwiw..

getting working files from graphic designers?

I'm not sure if this is in the correct sub forum, so apologies if not. In short, my organisation contracts out a lot of graphic design work. Normally this is contracted out to external printers for printing. We have an in-house repro and we're dipping our toes in printing some of the booklets...

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

Thanks! I suspect it's either something like this or there is perhaps a dependence upon another piece of hardware which I don't have. Tech is going to refer it upwards as he was completely stumped by it. Does anyone have a service manual they could send me out of curiosity?

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

today's learnings: - I have found that I can select higher than paper weight 7 from mixed media if I change Finisher Ouput to "face up" instead of "face down". - Problem is this then disables any stapling. - I checked the manual again and it does support up to paper weight 9 for saddle...

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

today's update: The covers are jamming from the post inserter just after they go around the second bend and down into the machine. I'm pretty confident that if I were able to set it at paper weight 8 then this would solve itself. Today I am sending the covers through the bypass tray instead...

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

thanks Tommy! good to hear from another user. in this case it's not about exceeding the number of allowed pages or thickness though. when i'm in CWS, even for a one page sheet, if i got to Mixed Media I cannot select anything from any tray above paper weight 7. Which makes no sense to me!

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

interior is 80gsm. it won't let me choose such a heavy weight as the cover for the interior pages whilst also centre stapling it.. further update: I think i wasn't locking the pages in place correctly in the post-inserter. It's got a bit of a weird page size adjustment where you seemingly...

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

update: i thought i'd try increasing the thickness of the paper stock in the advanced settings of the machine's paper catalogue. but the post-inserter does not allow you to select items from the paper catalogue. you have to manually specify the size, weight and type. so i've drawn a blank there.

CWS mixed media has lower max paper weight than supported by machine?

Hi folks, I'm trying to insert pre-printed covers via the post-inserter on my Ricoh c5310, which are then being centre stapled into booklets. The stock is 250gsm, untextured, pre-printed. These cover sheets are jamming often. This stock has a habit of jamming when printing on paper weight 7...

printing & cutting booklets for the first time

Noted..will do thanks. Will probably do short batches at a time as the post inserter doesn't have great capacity anyway

printing & cutting booklets for the first time

right, to all who suggested printing first and cutting and then feeding through the post-inserter, thank you all!!! I've finally got it working. it's obviously a million times easier to accurately trim flat sheets than bound ones. and the end product looks much better. This is a game changer...

printing & cutting booklets for the first time

ah- think i've sussed it now. i tell it that the media is coming from the interposer, and then only define the cover under mixed media. before i was defining both the cover and the main media under mixed media as coming from interposer.

printing & cutting booklets for the first time

yeah - i've tried that variations on that . i managed to get one booklet to print using pages out of the post-inserter trays. but now when i try to do it some other way it's making the fiery disconnect and crash. I wonder if it's a bug or a deliberate thing from Ricoh to stop click-free booklet...

    Why do they reject sRGB???

found this thread interesting. i'm just starting to print more colour sensitive jobs and my knowledge of colour and pdf standards is almost non-existent. could anyone recommend any beginner's reading materials to get to grips with this type of stuff?

printing & cutting booklets for the first time

so, as suspected, i can't do fully pre-printed booklets out of totalflow prep. it insists on having some content to print. managed to feed pre-printed covers and pages via CWS with saddle stitch stapling, but the imposition is wrong. next step is to try out impose I guess (i don't have a license...
