    Pantone Color Percentages...

Not sure why your Pitstop has changed, but can tell you that Pantone has changed the values for 158C. With V3 of the color libraries it was 0-62-95-0, and then when they updated to V4 it became 0-62-97-0. Like Gordo, don't know if anyone can explain Pantone, even Pantone themselves and why/how...

    HELP PLEASE, Canon PRISMAdirect system

Creative-1 are you still open to talk about PRISMAsync? We have a an Canon/Oce 135 also, that we've had for a couple of years, and for the most part works well. Just running into a job that is a problem that doesn't make sense. It is a variable job that is done as a flat PDF with a total of...

    Folding and Grain...

Don't forget the tear test to find the grain too. We use a Morgana Digifolder on digital jobs, and some offset jobs. It makes a wider, more gentler crease for the fold.

    Team Building Goes Wrong

These are the things that would have been said at a typesetting company I used to work at. Especially by the proofreaders.

    PageMaker PMD to PDF

Sorry I wasn't clear enough about where to search, as I meant on the internet, and not on your computer. For Windows, here is a link to Adobe's Knowledge Base https://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/325924.html You can probably use the same PPD for the Mac, but I can not remember where it would...

    PageMaker PMD to PDF

When it is saying you need a PS printer installed, that could mean you need one installed on your system (Mac or Windows). You can do a search for postscript.ppd to find one for your system. Then install it, and that should solve this issue. Hopefully.

    Digitally printed micro perforated sheets

I've run it on Canon and Kodak equipment without too much issue. And various types of perfs. Usually won't tear, it more on just getting it to feed into the press that can be the trickiest part. Sometimes, just need smaller loads.

    Playing Card Paper

At my previous print shop, we used a Rollem device that would take a full sheet of laid out deck of cards, and trim them down in order, then round corner them and place them in a box. It was a sight to see. But that is the main stay of the business as a card and board game printer. I left a...

Bulletproof conversion software and powerful computer spec?

Last resort option is to, import into Indesign and then print to a Postscript file and then Distill that to PDF. That will for sure get rid of issues in the PDF. Flatten/kill fonts/transparencies and such. On occasion we do that for those files that just don't want to RIP.

    Canon ImpoProof

We've had our Cannons for about 2 years, and just had to install our first print head. Wish we had known it took 30 minutes. But still it was not bad, and it was right back up and running again. I remember when we got the printers and when we ordered some supplies and they said we needed to...

    Canon ImpoProof

We have one too. The excess only happens when you "need" to have your proof "now". If you let them queue up and then output when there is enough in the queue. Then there is very little loss, besides at the beginning and the end of the roll. The beginning of the roll will print out 3 test IMPOs...

    Quick Question - Click Charge

As ColorMonkey says, if a piece of paper goes through the fuser it's a click. I've run Kodaks, HPs, Canons, Ricohs, Toshibas, and Xeroxs and they all seem to be the same as I can remember. If the unit has some post fuser assembly features, you can bypass the click charge, but not if it actually...

Thinking of moving to a New Workflow and Need Input

We are commercial and web2print shop and use Prinergy. I haven't used any other system besides Kodak, so I can't speak on the other systems. But I can tell you, with the RBA in Prinergy, and some creative use of other command line software that the RBAs can control, you sure can do a lot. We run...

PMS vs Spot best practices for various presses

Each presses DFE can be set on how to handle blacks. Whether it be 100%K or Pantone Black. You have to choose. And how to handle to the overprints. Maybe in your case, someone was messing, or I mean adjusting the settings for a specific job, and forgot to turn it back to your shops "default"...

    Print United vs Print/Graph Expo

The last Print show seemed like a majority of vendors that were there seemed to be targeted to small shops. And quite of few of the vendor were selling the same sorta equipment with a different name. It was disappointing. I have been on the fence about going, as it is only 3 hours away, but the...

    Automation in prepress

I would totally agree, and would add, that the powers that be need to give that person the time to develop the automation too. And not throw so much at them, they can't focus on the automation. Otherwise they will get the low hanging fruit done, but then they will stop, because they just don't...

    creative cloud subscription a ripoff

Wow, I was just look at my companies actual CDs of Creative Suite 6. And yes, I have downloaded the disk images so I can put them on the network to install on different computers, as we have a volume license. And some of those computers at the time did not have CD drives. I can tell you, if I...

    Kodak Sonora X plates?

Anyone using auto plate loading on press with these plates? If so, how are the plates working with it. I've heard with the X, it was an issue. We have auto loaders on our presses, and wouldn't switch to process-less without being able to still use our auto loaders.

    Help_kodak magnus 800

I don't remember the error we've had in the past. But sometimes there is a rainbow type pattern on the backside of the plate that can cause some issues in the Magnus. And if you can rotate the plate so the rainbow is NOT in the area of the sensors, that should help. Not sure if that is what is...
