Neo has a better overprint preview then Acrobat by default (even with overprint preview on). Im guessing that those images have some kind of funky overprint setting on them or on top of them (maybe a varnish object or something). Check your preferences in Acrobat.

Update your nexus, Current version is 9.5.x. You are using software that was released a few years ago. I have no problems running PDFs (we export instead of print) from indesign to Nexus.

Fast impose would be your preps replacement for book work. PowerLayout (Mac) & Plato (PC) would be your Step and repeat editors (tabular, nested etc...) These products essentially do the same as preps and Pandora. PowerLayout and Plato are slighty more advanced then Pandora.

PackEdge 10 can open Artpro files. Backstage and AE10 can also take them in and convert them to PDF

I know there is a "cups" utility that might work. Don't remember where I found it but I believe it creates a print protocal that might work. But to be honest, If you are using or planning on upgrading to the PDF at anytime, now might be the best time to stop using PS and start exporting to PDF.

Im confused. AE10 is a brand new product with new functionality. I would have expected to pay something for this. Its not like you are upgrading from a previous version of AE10. Did you have Nexus or Backstage?

Hey Gordo, its probably because with concentric we use something called presssync that has all of the profiles embedded into a rip. You should ask him about this, I think you would be very interested in it. Its pretty different then what anybody else is doing with curves.

Hey BlairT. What you say is true. But esko has released a new PDF trapper call the "Power Trapper" that is by far the best and fastest trapper I have seen. Currently it is stand alone in Illustrator and in Automation Engine 10 but it will be ported down to Nexus as well. Good news for us all...

With Automation Engine 10 there is a new font engine. Im guessing that this is going to effect Packedge and Artpro as well.

Its a pretty straight forward upgrade. Being that AE10 is built on Backstage it is almost like another dot revision. But to answer you question, I have not.

The only issue I know of is the lack of appletalk printers in leopard. This is a mac thing not a nexus thing. I would imagine if you are using PDF that you are not printing to workflows anyway. Besides that, everything works well here.

Just thought I would chime in. I was told at Eskoworld last month that Automation Engine 10 will run native on a Mac. But not until after the PC version is released. Im not worried, While Esko's editors where PC native and AWS where mac Native, they will continue to work in the new AE10. Also...
