My gut feeling was that it wasn't going to be an easy "15 minute change" (we have a cp1000 with clear) but we were told otherwise at GraphExpo. I guess we'll see once it's finally rolled out if it was just another sales pitch :)

You said you're replacing a machine with Clear with the Gold/Silver option. Is it not interchangeable? We've been told with a 15 minute parts swap you can switch back and forth between the clear and gold/silver.

We have a 1000 - The NVM that craig listed above definitely helps with jobs that are mixed color/b+w pages. It still seems problematic for us trying to run blank slip sheets for us though. Still wants to do an adjustment before and after a slip sheet. With a book with a handful of slip sheets...

We have a Canon and a Xerox, and we've had a KM machine, and service absolutely covered the RIPs along with the machines from all 3 companies.

That's on the WaybackMachine - Just a site that archives public websites. Not affiliated with any of the sites it actually archives, so I would hope that the username and passwords don't work. I highly doubt any of the password protected info is on that site anyways as it just archives public...

My gripe is the number of "Recent Threads" on the front page is cut way back, seemingly in favor of the "Editiorial Feature" above. I'm not quite sure what the Editorial Feature even is - Is it supposed to be an ad for Blanks/USA? There's not even a link. Just "helpful" info to tell viewers...

C6000 VP here - We do the same as Schnicklefritz, but not every 500 clicks. Usually 3 times a day we'll bang out a calibration. First thing AM, then after the first good size run, then after lunch.

Color registration, or front to back registration? On our C8000 front to back registration has always been poor. Color registration has been decent. Holding colors (day to day, or even during runs) is another matter - That's a constant battle for us.

That's been our ongoing battle with KM. Complete lack of color consistency on the machine. We get shifts from day to day (proof 1 day, different color the next). Even if we run a proof in the morning we won't match it in the afternoon. Doesn't matter how many times we calibrate - even that...

We did a trial of the KM Color Care software package for our C8000, however it was sold and branded by KM. I had a tech tell me they did purchase it from a 3rd party, so maybe that's the BasicColor company? It seemed pretty clunky to me - To run the full thing including updating the paper...

The die is a consumable. We have about 12 mil clicks on one machine (that the stream punch isn't that heavily used on) and around 10 mil on the other machine that the punch is used extensively and we've bought one die so far (and we actually still use the old one once in a while if we start...

We looked at Oce but were quoted a price almost double the KM 1200's - Too much for us. We have GBC Stream punches on both our 1200's - One of them runs almost constantly for an account that does a TON of GBC binding. The other one we use sporadically mostly for 3hole binder work.
