    Raffle Ticket Books stapling

Assuming raffle tickets are only an occasional job, it will help to collate as several on a sheet before cutting & stapling. How many on the sheet will likely depend on how many you can number at a time and you'll have to do a bit of math to coordinate the numbers.

    Plugged drill bit

Similarly, punching waxed paper when using your cerlox machine seems to help as well.

    The Quick Printer

Tales of the 70's. An Itek camera and an AB Dick. Just get a fussy job up & running and through the haze you hear the dreaded; "Got 1,000 copies, customer waiting!" What The F**k!!! (this was well before the days of initialisms such as WTF!) Or 200 pages, 50 copies. Fingers like prunes from...

    A.I. Humor

Almost as bad as the printing industry, whereby many/most customers will wait until the last possible second before ordering, despite that they've been warned many times that there comes a limit to what miracles can be performed. Notice my very cool segue back to the topic of printing, which is...

I'd be old too if I hadn't stopped having birthdays 11 years ago. It appears you & I are the good ones. I can't recall the last time I saw someone in store paying by cheque. Could be it's just not a thing around here. I'm not sure of the last time I wrote out a cheque for anything. Maybe old...

Amateurs! One should always scan any line (& note cashier on duty) for old people prior to entering the queue. Not a guarantee of quick passage but as close as it gets.

Likely true, but that's not the point.

    College Print Program Eliminated

Economics plays a large part. Hard to get by on a trainee salary. Add to that wage expectations even when one does reach top operator level. And much of the industry has been dumbed down almost to the point of button pusher. Prices cut to minimum in order to compete means wages follow along the...

    College Print Program Eliminated

I've had shop owners relay to me that they have trouble filling trainee positions such as press feeder. Apparently there's an unwillingness to start at the ground level and work oneself up.

    College Print Program Eliminated

Always a shame to see such programs end. Aren't these small duplicators are pretty much history these days? Would still be useful for teaching the basics of offset I suppose. I operated similar years ago and looking at the video made me realize I could probably still walk in & operate the thing...

re roboburger Just shoot me now. I'll no longer go to McDonalds regardless of how hungry. On a brighter note, I just visited the drug store where there was a line up for the cash. Everyone in line refused to be transferred to the self checkout. It was a proud moment of solidarity.

I've already done that when the person I'm talking to is right before my eyes! Like . . .is this person real?! Last time I was at a drive through fast food joint I wondered to myself, how long before the person inside with a headset is replaced with a bot. Or for that matter, how long before...

Nothing says 'we don't give a rat's ass about your question or your problem' like a company that uses one of those growing more popular by the day Virtual Assistants.

    Political Mailings

Membership often permits a company to attract the best talent thanks to decent benefits & wages. But that's a different thread.

    Political Mailings

I (we) would sometimes be queried about union membership by customers. Not just political types either. What ultimately drove the importance of union membership, or not, was the price. Same goes for the use of recycled paper. Customers would be all over the importance of using 100% recycled...

Chrome metering roller on pm74 keeps picking up ink issue

My 2 cents to the above. When shutting down for the day I always used chrome cleaner and finished with gum arabic. It could take several days of treatment to 'season' your roller.

Trapping CMYK image to spot-ink background

The simple thing to do would be to also print the border CMYK. If for whatever reason that's not feasible, make the border slightly larger and overprint the spot colour. However that could be a problem if your blue border colour is very light.
