    Government bids

Company policy. I love when that term is bandied about. Like it's some law that's been carved in concrete and is absolutely not negotiable. An underpaid lackey looks down their nose . . ."but it's our policy." End of discussion. I take immeasurable pleasure in pointing out that whatever this...

    Government bids

My experience with government contracts - both levels of government - is don't expect a windfall. Those that make money are those that wine & dine or otherwise pander to the purchasing agent and therefore land the nicer orders. It happens. Not much different than dealing with a large...

Publisher file -- Pics dropping when Saving as PDF

I once had a customer who designed a tri-fold brochure 2 sides in Excel. All considered he did a pretty good job of it too. Probably took him days. Brochures in Word are pretty common. The folds/panels are never remotely near correct. I understand getting panels right can be a problem in Word (I...

How Would You Do This Job?

Ynot_UK brings up a valid point here. You'd have to be the luckiest guy in the world to have both sides of the saddle stitched sheet(s) work as tabs. Therefore the option is a flat form of binding. Saddle bind is off the table. Congratulations on having a customer that has loads of money and...

How Would You Do This Job?

I faced a similar issue with a customer who had been using tabs since before I took over the printing. He wanted to cut costs so I suggested rather than the tabs, print a border down the face edge of each page front & back. The colour of the border is different for each section and it's easy to...

Study shows face masks don’t stop infections

I'm not so sure I've ever seen science & common sense contradict one another. Course it depends who's common sense it is. In other words, common sense could be variable. My common sense = good & accurate. The rest of humanity's common sense = maybe not so good. In response to pastry thighs...

Study shows face masks don’t stop infections

Sorry, I don't get it. MSM to me is a medical abbreviation for an anti-inflammatory. If you saw it spelled out you'd understand why it's abbreviated. In any case, common sense dictates that a barrier of any sort is better protection than no barrier.

    Basic creaser?

If it's that infrequent and such low volume you could make up a little jig for jobs as they occur to square & hold the card in place then use a ruler as a straight edge and the back of a knife, or some such similar to make the score. Alternatively, set the back fence of your cutter (guillotine)...

    Happy Diwali !

Depends which way you're facing. Too bad about the pandemic. Vancouver's celebration was/is always the best. Pretty certain I have 3 or 4 Indian style marinades in the cupboard. COVID means I don't have to share ;)

Who is Responsible for Printing Intellectual Property

I'm sure these exist. I've never seen one in over 40 years. I get quotes sometime from one printer that adds about 3 pages of crap to the quote. I've never read it. I suppose they could have terms in there somewhere.
