What frontend system to drive Fujifilm Acuity Flatbed Printer?

We are in the process of purchasing a used Fujifilm Acuity. The seller is not including the RIP in the sale, so I need to find something for the front end. Fuji is recommending ColorGate, we have Onyx 11, but it is in a different shop driving our Epson UV, but we might be able to juggle things...

    Unknown Register Mark

Nothing I have come across before, but I think I can see the purpose. Instead of looking at the cross-hair and "guessing" on adjustment, it could "in theory" give you a precise direction of movement. it reminds me a LOT of the register test patterns of an Epson.

Sad to say, I'm on my way...

hey! I'm not that young! I clung to my special calibrated CRT for a long time... those "new-fangled" "Flat Screens" were just unreliable. ;)

    help to Make a packing/box

I agree with Stephen. the template you have there is a good rough concept, but not a functional dieline. If you are looking at corrugated, then you definitely will need more allowances for the appropriate scores and material thickness. For packaging CAD programs, the three main contenders...

    help to Make a packing/box

OOOO.... that looks like a fun one!! too big for my shop to produce I think, but that one looks like some of the fun puzzles I love... On the flip side, a box that large should probably be out of corrugated. White board or CCNB, even at 30pt would be too flimsy I would think. see here...

    Your-best-employees-work-for-love-not-money

while I appreciate the sentiments, and opinions of what this posting company's objectives are, the article makes some REALLY good points. I have worked in retail for a long time as a part timer, and full time in the print industry for over 15 years. In the print industry, at least in my area...

What would you charge for this job?

then if you think that's the best price you're comfortable with, that's what I would go with. aside from "market pricing" being different from region to region, not to mention country to country, since this is a world wide board, even within my Metro area, all printers are very different...

    Acrobat XI Trim Marks Bug

I'll let coremac respond with a file... But from what i've seen so far, it is EVERY file. regardless of what program it was generated from. I skipped 10, so I'm not sure, but this was NOT a problem in 9. 9 worked/works fine.

    Acrobat XI Trim Marks Bug

I think the easier way for Adobe to fix it would be to give use the option of aligning to your preferred page box. But regardless...it seems we are complaining to deaf ears.

    Acrobat XI Trim Marks Bug

I'm with coremac. we run a number of digital shops, and they don't even have RIPs to do that with. we frequently get in PDFs that we need to print with the trims applied in acrobat. it's just the way our production flow works. I also agree on the trim marks in PDFs. HATE them. Adobe...

Starting a New website from our successful instore print business

I know it can be VERY overwhelming. I do a fair amount of back end coding on my own, but Anthony at Encodable has been invaluable! A couple things that might help, Dreamhost.com has 91 days of free trial for their hosting (I don't know why 91), if you want to try them out, I can give you a...

Stick a fork in me, I'm done!

agreed! And what I see coming out of the colleges is a combination of people who: went to school because they've been in the industry in a company that stagnated and died and they're out of touch with the current tech and what to get "caught up" but they can't shake their old school ways and...
