Front to Back registration on Canon C7010 VP

Is the registration moving, or is the image shrinking/expanding? That would be my big question. We semi-regularly run a test sheet that is just a 1pt box printed 2 sided and measure if it's the correct size, correct location, and then adjust the image location and zoom to center the front side...

    Xeroz Versant 2100

I think the sales guy is over simplifying things. You can't just click "print" You have to use your mouse and right click on the file and THEN hit print. =) This isn't the offset world where you start running and dial in the color as you go. If you ran all your shading corrections/auto...

Advice for getting first digital printer

I would look seriously at the Canon imagePRESS C60 It's a low volume, high quality machine that will handle up to 300gsm paper (12-14pt cardstock) The price should be right for what you want too. The Canon imagePRESS C700 is a little bigger machine but it might be overkill for what you want.

Can you print digital on top of offset prints?

Yeah how big are we talking? There are wide format printers with white ink options. Then again, just print on a white canvas and call it good.

How to? - Print Magnetic Business Cards

We print on regular coated stock than adhere it to adhesive backed magnetic media. We put about 3-4 sheets of scrap 12pt stock between the sheets and that gives enough separation between magnets to let us cut cards with the guillotine. Afterwards we pull out the scrap stock.

What would you charge for this job?

Good thing I already did all of that.

What would you charge for this job?

Oh I've done all my estimating but I have very little context to know how the price I calculated relates to the rest of the market.

What would you charge for this job?

I've got a customer who is asking me for a job that I've never done before, though technically have the ability to do. As I've never done a job like this before, I have no idea how my prices compare to the rest of the market, so I'm hoping to hear what others would charge for a similar job...

printer for short run #10 envelopes

I've got the Oki C931 for doing envelopes and so far we've been happy with it. Here is what I've noticed: 1) Input tray only holds about 15 envelopes to reliably print straight. 2) Color looks good 3) Minimal creasing (so far) 4) When the drums say "Replace me" that's it. They're done. No more...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

I forgot to mention that on my contract, I only pay for the clicks I use. If I use 50,000 clicks, I pay for 50,000. If I use 10,000, I pay for 10,000. No service charge No monthly fee No monthly minimum Nothng. If I shut down my machine and hibernated to the south for a month, my bill would...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

You're really aiming for that 2-sided 12 x 18 at 100 pages per minute aren't you? Good luck with that! Spot color in the digital world can be different than spot color in the offset world. In offset, if you have a 6 color press, you can load, say, orange or green (or whatever color) ink in that...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

You're already falling prey to the sales pitch of 100ppm. Go read the fine print. http://www.xerox.com/digital-printing/latest/X80BR-01U.pdf Page 16 has this: Color 800/1000 Presses Productivity/ Print Speeds–AWM • 80/100 ppm (8.5" x 11"/A4 letter), all weights 55–350 gsm (15 lb Bond to 130...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

We'll have to make some assumptions here, but here it goes: 1) Xerox 1000 lists productivity at 50 12x18's per minute, but these machines all slow down for gradations, warm up/cool down, jams, etc. so we'll say 80% of that, so 40 impressions per minute at 12x18 2) You buy two machines and run...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

If that was your point then yes, I missed it. I appreciate the clarification! 1.1 million 8.5 x 11 printed 2 up on 11x17/12x18 duplexed (4 8.5 x 11 images per sheet) = 550,000 impressions. Depending on your manufacturer, they could charge differently for 8.5 x 11 vs 12x18 clicks (my experience...

    Is Digital Right for Me?

You put 100k clicks on your machine each month, and he's talking about 1.1 MILLION a month. Even with two machines, that's still a huge increase over what you're doing!
