    Komori PDC-S 1 support

There's actually a guy in New Jersey that does a good job. I have personally referred clients to him for repair and the equipment has come back in working order/calibrated. Can't remember the company name but here's the number and name I have: 201-657-5134 Raphael He's fixed a few old X-Rite...

    Air Purifier

Assuming your neighbor is using Low-VOC clean up solvents, how about politely asking them if there is an alternative with lower odor that they might be able to use? I know it sounds sarcastic.. Every manufacturer has at least 3 to 4 different washes to accomodate the needs of the printer...

    P2P25Xa - XML File???

I have been looking for the source file for the P2P25Xa to import into Color Port as a reference. I've gone onto Idealliance's website but they only have the P2P25 and P2P25X file available with a TIF file of the P2P25Xa. Might anyone be able to direct me where to download it or be able to...

Great Western Ink - Process Magenta

Agreed with Mr. D - Are you referring to the Print Tone or Mass Tone? If you are concerned about it, ask your supplier if that particular process ink series is ISO2846 and or ISO12647-2 compliant. I have plenty of clients that get hung up on how ink looks in a can or ink fount instead of...

    G7 Looks flat

Ray, What are you using to verify grey? You're welcome to send me the CGATS file of the P2P area and I'll take a look at it to verify your readings. You can message me and I'll give you my e-mail.

    Dot Gain UV ink

Just curious, which 2 steps have you tried and what doeses? We have our own fountain solution chemistries / formulations that are made to run with specific ink and plate combinations. Have you tried calling your ink manufacturer (That would be me and or our staff) to discuss the problem? It's...

Anyway to speed up ink drying?

Once the job has been printed, there's really limited options. *I'm assuming that this is on your Heidelberg XL105 and not the Web, correct? If you ran this sheet-fed: 1. You can run the sheets through the press with your IR's on but if it's a 2 sided job, you may want to be cautious about...

    Water in ink duct

Ink stripping. Your rollers are hydrophilic and attracting water to the point it over powers the ink. I'm sure there's a thread on here about it.

    Water in ink duct

Sounds like you're running a very "Wet" fountain solution and it's migrating up the roller train. I don't know if you have brush or continous dampening on that press but it sounds like an uneven balance of ink and water.

Curve3 VS. Spot On! - Discrepancy

Steve- can you send me your e-mail address? Or mine is [email protected]. Thanks.

Curve3 VS. Spot On! - Discrepancy

Precisely! On Spot On, the Delta E is 4.0 for CMY (Gray). On Curve3, I get a Delta E of 8.0 for CMY (Gray). Looking back at it, I should have taken the sheet and measured the L*a*b* values within the P2P area with a handheld to verify the 3/C area. The L*a*b* values for CMY on Curve3 are...

Curve3 VS. Spot On! - Discrepancy

Does anyone use Curve2 or Curve3 and use Spot On to verify a calibration once completing a G7 run? Does anyone else get radically different between the two results as far as the Delta E readings? Just curious.

Are there G7 certified ink stes in UV & Conventional

It really gets me crazy when other ink vendors claim to have a "G7 Certified Ink." I wish they would learn the proper terminology. What Gordo is saying is 100% accurate. Actually, I'd be more concerned with ISO-12647-2, not 12647-1. One relates more to mass tone/ink in the can and the other...

    Are ink eaters really needed?

Just curious, do you mean "Ink Agitators?"

    Black Unit Rollers Stained

D - Great contribution to the thread. Did you pick those techniques up at Capitol, Flint, K&M, Braden, or at Sicpa =)? Drinks on me when you're next in Los Angeles - good catch.

    Black Unit Rollers Stained

Bob, Just curious, what kind of press are they on? Are they using processless plates that might be running plate emulsions up the roller train? On a Heidelberg or a Roland, the staining might not be as visible but on a press with any kind of copper rollers, the riders will certainly...

POSCO Sapphire coating on 40" Komori

I actually have had a few customers that have ran it to coat some digital jobs. From what I have seen, the viscosity difference between a "True AQueous Coating" and the "Saphire Solution" is quite great. Have you tried just running the Posco product through the water pans on the last unit? You...

    pH - Conductivity Meter

I personally use the Myron L Ultra Meter 6p. It measures pH, Conductivity, Temperature, and is water resistant up to 3 feet. I actually bought mine off E-bay and sent it to Myron L for a full calibration to be on the safe side.

Roller life - Specifically Soft duro type

"Funny part is the USA is still using the 20 - 22 as a starting point then changing them out once they get to the 25 point." Luke, Those numbers described are a bit low for U.S. durometers. For alcohol free printing, regardless of the machine, water form and metering rollers typically begin...
