As Gordo already assumed, the moiré is not caused by a scanned print, it could be a photo of a fabric or a mesh with a certain pattern that interfere with the AM screening. It happens now and then. I know how the problem can be fixed, you could print with FM screening or do a slight blur/noise...

tlc68, how do you save your files? Export with Indesign or any other way? Creating PDF/X-1a should not by default convert text to outlines. Please provide more info.

It depends on how the PDF-file is created. If it doesn't say "Output intent:" before the profile name, the PDF do not have an Output intent (And is not a proper PDF/X-file).

I just looked at the Apogee setting you are referring to Stephen, and it was dated 2008. A lot have happened with Apogee Prepress since. I will try to get an answer from AGFA.

Thanks Stephen I will check it out! I think the problem is how Apogee separates preflightprofiles and fixes (like flattening). It annoys me how this could not be a standard feature..

We are proofing Fogra47 (PSO Uncoated) with an Epson 4900 on matte stock and get a very good match with our uncoated offset print. We are using GMG ColorProof with noise effect and missing dots effect. Our customers would not accept a coated proof when the print would be uncoated.
