    Illustrator paths

WI-Flexo Thanks for kicking me back in the water. That worked like a champ.

    Illustrator paths

Path appears smooth with rounded radius in preview mode but that contour is not visible in outline mode. How do I make the rounded path selectable in outline mode? Not an Illustrator whiz so use use small words and speak slowly.:)

    Illustrator - a good trick

Yup-what RVNG said. Native files are prefered-you never know how the previous person exported the PDF-I'd rather do it myself.

    Gradients in Illustrator

Can anyone explain to me the difference between creating a gradient over another object that goes from 100% Black to 0% Black (using the opacity slider) and creating a Black to white gradient and setting it to multiply? Visually I cannot detect a difference. Am I missing something?

    ESKO ending support

Thanks Stephen. I like what I read online about the laser ablative dry film process. It seems a better fit for us, but I was hoping to hear some input from those who have moved to it. From what I've read the Kodak film is not as robust as the product from the Flint Group. The fact that CDI Spark...

    ESKO ending support

We were informed that ESKO will no longer offer a maintenance contract on our Barco Megasetter after December 31, 2016. We are a high-end screen printer who's business depends on the superior image quality this unit provides. In the past we kept an eye out for old units and used them for parts...

HP Indigo 5600 IndiChrome PDF settings

Thank you all for your responses. Yes, I meant the export settings in InDesign or Illy. The info provided above concerning Spot colors and RGB for vectors cleared the cobwebs for me.

HP Indigo 5600 IndiChrome PDF settings

Could anyone provide or point me to the preferred PDF export settings to take full advantage of the IndiChrome workflow. I feel like there is more to the color management tab than I am fully utilizing. Thanks.

    Customer Recognition

Years ago we had a PITA award (Pain In The A**). It's been my experience these clients have no clue they're the focus of our scorn. "Could you take out 1% yellow in the 3/4 tone-the brown is getting a smidge green". Uggh!!

    Variable data

Thanks for the links Stephan! The ID Automation font is exactly what I need.

    Variable data

Thanks Sev. If we did go with Data Merge I would likely break it into lists of 1000. Seems like all the cool kids use XMPie. This variable data stuff sure is daunting. Thanks for the advice.

    Variable data

As an Indigo owner we have access to HP SmartStream at no cost. Barcodes will be printed 45 up on a sheet.

    Variable data

I have an excel file with about 30,000 barcodes. There needs to be a variable text field above the barcode with the part number as well. I am leaning towards InDesign because I am familiar with it. In your opinion would the Data Merge feature in InDesign be sufficient or do I need a plug-in like...

    Variable data

Thanks for the response MailGuru. The barcodes will be used to identifiy the part. The "part" in this case being a printed graphic. Nothing as complicated as the variable data needed for mailing. More for the customer to sort through decals and appliques with subtle variations. Their process...
