    6100 vs. 3070 KM

I had a 6085 (same as 6100 just a little slower) that I couldn’t wait to get rid of. I agree that a 6100 is a strange suggestion by them, I can’t imagine wanting to replace with an old / used machine? Devil you know vs devil you don’t If your two machines are working well, I think it’s...

    Ricoh Tech Conversation Today...

I have always been sending PDFs, to my Ricoh currently and every machine I’ve had previously. My experience has been the techs don’t know much about the Fiery or files. The fierys IMHO have a failure rate for an extremely expensive glorified PC, I have seen literally every component fail on...

    Overs and Unders

I understand the need for overs and unders, but in my practice I always lean towards exact quantity or over, never ship under. Nobody is ever going to complain about receiving a few extra. I think it’s a dickhead move to ship under but charge for the full amount. If they are consistently...

Describing color shift tolerance in layman's terms

In my experience, that may be case by case with each designer you encounter. The ones employed by our customers I don’t have much faith in having any technical understanding of the print world. They only selectively understand basic layout principles for print it seems. If I described to them...

How to add a binding margin in Acrobat Pro?

I would normally do this using the trim and shift functions of the Quite Imposing plugin, it allows you to treat odd and even pages differently and setup presets to automate

    Supplier suddenly cancels service agreement

Without knowing the situation it’s hard to guess. What does Ricoh direct say when you call them? I’m assuming that they still want production machines in your area and would not be thrilled with your experience, I feel like they may be willing to push back at the third party. Do you want me...

    Supplier suddenly cancels service agreement

I think this is a very strange situation unless there is more to the story; I have the same machine minus the scanner, but serviced by Ricoh direct. I can’t imagine why they’d cancel, unless you are very remote or have a very problematic machine that isn’t profitable to them (which it seems...

Used Xerox strategy - Color 1000i

My former employer had the strategy of keeping old but not quite yet EOL machines “instead of pumping money into Xerox” (they definitely were still pumping a shit ton of money into Xerox as they had very expensive service contracts instead of a lease with a reasonable contract). Wouldn’t...

Fuji Xerox v3100i verse Km C4070

I didn’t run this KM, I had a c6085. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it as I’ve gone into elsewhere. The registration was pretty good though (our Ricoh is better). The service was awful. But I’m not in New Zealand so not really relevant. What machines are your competitors / trade partners...

    Fiery impose licenses

Quite Imposing is great despite having a website that looks like 1995. 90% of jobs I impose with that. Mailings I impose with Fusion Pro to save myself a step and break jobs into groups. Certain business cards I setup a hot folder to impose on the Fiery. I find Fiery Impose counterintuitive...

    Ricoh 9210 print quality

I have a 7210 but I am assuming you have similar settings. Try 1. Decrease or increase the speed. 2. Increase or decrease the paper transfer setting

Is there reflective sheeting for dry toner?

I would say no. My guess is it would melt going through a laser printer. This material is designed to go through an eco solvent printer.

SOLVED - Iridesse streaks - charge wires?

I dunno, I’m skeptical. I have run some of the dustiest paper imaginable (7pt return card cut out of parent sheets) by the skid through a couple different printers without corotron issues. And during Covid parent size sheets were often what I had to buy, again quite dusty. My Ricoh has a...

SOLVED - Iridesse streaks - charge wires?

I would have agreed with checking your humidity. But as you’ve done that - 37% is decent this time of year - if replacing the wires fixes the issue (temporarily) then it must be something with the wires right? I don’t have an Iridesse, but there’s got to be some automatic or manual cleaning...

How do you manage multiple presses with different overage thresholds?

Ah that makes sense, why I declined inline finishing on this machine; I don’t like to tie up the printer for finishing work. Got an offline booklet maker (duplo dbm150) instead. Maybe an offline booklet maker would allow you to make due with one press without the huge commitment? I’d figure...

How do you manage multiple presses with different overage thresholds?

Then I wouldn’t stress about it, just becomes a job scheduling issue. For context, I have a Ricoh 7210, and our meters are billed quarterly. Average 90k per month since end of March 2022, with a 25k minimum. Purrs along just fine, for us I haven’t felt a need another machine.

How do you manage multiple presses with different overage thresholds?

I thought significant minimums were a thing of the past. Today, our machine has something like 25000 per month as a minimum, which is easy to hit. If your vendor is trying to give you crazy minimums (what are they trying to set you up with?), shop around. This is absolutely negotiable. It’s...

    Ricoh Pro C7500 vs C7200X

I basically told my sales rep as such…I said we’d try it but not really sold on being able to charge our customers for it. He ended up giving us the stuff for gold, silver, white, and clear. I have had a handful of jobs for clear, but it’s always when the customer asks “what can we do for...
