Mixing bigger silver flakes in with offset varnish or ink

We did this using our press coater with a high volume 40 bcm Anilox roller. Large metal flake particles wont transfer in a offset press roller train and could end up destroying the rubber. We had to use a Peristaltic pump to supply the metalic mixture to the unit and keep it constantly...

    Alternatives to Pressign for GMI

we had PressSign installed on 2 of our Heidelberg presses. As we are a packaging shop and have around 2000 special colours we found it was a bit too rigid and not so user friendly. We invested in this system and are very satisfied with the results. We are using Intellitrax scanners, closed loop...

    Sheet scans

couple of questions. Are you running closed loop and how stable is your press. If the density is fluctuating your operators will usually be pulling sheets often to try and keep the press under control and this leads to over control of the process. If the inking system is not in good condition...

Komori Lithrone S40 - Double Delivery & Manual Non-Stop Feeder

turbo, not sure if that is an option and we did not investigate it for our press. Our press ran UV/Hybrid so drying time not an issue. I would imagine to alternatively deliver a different sheet to each pile at 13,000iph would require the sheet release cam to switch between piles very quickly and...

Komori Lithrone S40 - Double Delivery & Manual Non-Stop Feeder

This feature does not have to be used and you can deliver a pile as a normal press. I think though as you get used to the machine you might find it useful.

Komori Lithrone S40 - Double Delivery & Manual Non-Stop Feeder

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8PW2In3ZC8 Feeder is at 1.00 minute on this video Looking at the photo it appears your press may be able to run 'Roll to sheet'. It does not however show all the other equipment needed such as the cutting head unit. Your press may be able to either run ready cut...

What is it called in the UK?

Reminds me of a bumper sticker 'pressmen do it with inky balls'

What is it called in the UK?

I believe the term Ink ball has been used in the past to describe the ink fountain roller. The term is about 600 years old and refers to the leather Ball used to apply ink to the raised type in Letterpress printing.

How to reduce friction on metalized paper surface

Is this a sheetfed press or a web press? If this is in fact as Alois says Static there are a few things you may want to try. Web presses need grounding especially at the unwind and festoon section to control static, Control of relative humidity is a must, fitting anti static bars works on web...

What is it called in the UK?

I think you are safe calling it the Ink Ductor Roller

I would say Alois is quite correct but I think it could be a 'little Joe' proofing press

Label printing: differance between Letterpres and flexo

A well established company for Rotary letterpress label printing. What you buy will depend on your budget. Do you want UV capability? This will add quite a bit more to the price but gives you much more options for your labels http://www.sanjokikai.co.jp/en/product/label/

Offset Print Job on Uncoated Paper fades within weeks for no known reason

Does the humidity change that much in their factory that it could cause this issue. Do they monitor humidity in the plant on a daily basis? The equipment that can monitor Humidity is not very expensive. Have their ink supplier perform a Light fastness test on the inks. Are you certain this is...

Ink Densities on the Printing Machine

Our presses were fingerprinted using the following ink density. Black 1.70 Cyan 1.30 Magenta 1.40 and yellow 1.10. These are our target densities for packaging work

    Roller Journal Repair

Our roller guy only repairs the journals if a bearing has seized on the shaft, otherwise its a straight roller recover. We have our rollers available as 'press ready' Bearings are already installed by the roller people and we just unwrap and put them in the press. I have seen too many pressman...

Doubt in Spot Color print registration

Sheetfed offset delivers a very high degree of registration accuracy so much less bleed/trap is required. We use around 3-4 thou for our sheetfed and around 7 thou for our web Flexo. I would solve any mechanical/electrical registration issues you may have with the flexo web press and then you...

    Customers without 5k lighting

We started using these cheap strips attached to our colour standards that we sent the customer. We had to educate them first of course. We did not have to educate all the customers just the ones we felt would be the most difficult to satisfy. They now can make the decision to install 5K lights...
