moved on from refurbs; Ricoh C5300 or KM C4065 repayments, cpc similar

In the US, with Ricoh when we bought a new machine - the refurbs were either unavailable or they were an old model (the 7100), and I didn’t get a proposal because I didn’t want the old model, but I’m sure it was a shorter term and a higher cost per copy. I think that is pretty normal - these...

    Xerox Versant 280 Scratch Lines?

Isolate if it’s in a specific color. If it’s in all colors, then examine for lines that match it - probably 2nd btr or fuser. If it’s not on single sided prints, then probably 2nd btr. If it doesn’t line up with rollers in the paper path, it’s not a roller dragging. If it was me and based...

    Matching the Proof

Do customers even look at what they send us or proofs anymore? So many big clients dump files with ugly low res logos and images, if they send us native files 8/10 times it’s missing the image links or the links have been renamed for some reason. Jobs will survive a week of proofs and then when...

Plockmatic PBM5035 RCT Skewing while Cutting

I don’t have a Plockmatic but are you using the creaser when making books? And if so, is it still skewed when you disable the creaser? I used to have a km machine with an (not Plockmatic) inline slitter cutter creaser booklet maker and enabling the creaser causes books to fold skewed.

    Iridesse to Ricoh/Konica

I heard the same about saybrook. For the last year and a half, the envelopes I buy have typically been “whatever I can get.” But the brand will absolutely make a difference. However the cheap stuff I get runs well, as long as flaps are opened.

    Iridesse to Ricoh/Konica

The physical changeout of the fuser isn’t too big of a deal - but rebooting the printer and fiery, and hoping the fiery connects and sees the fuser - was the issue. Then repeating that process for normal jobs. That was about 30-40 minutes.

    Iridesse to Ricoh/Konica

The Xerox machines I used are a bit older i think than what you have so fwiw, probably not fair for me to make a direct comparison to new-ish stuff… we had J75s when I left, but I had also used a 1000 and versant (I don’t remember which model…) at the demo room. The demo room experience would...

    Iridesse to Ricoh/Konica

I came from a Xerox bkgd then went to a shop with a km 6085…which is the same as 6100 just a little slower. Tldr I didn’t have great experiences with that machine or the service. When the lease was up we went with a Ricoh 7210x. Has been a night and day upgrade in experience as far as uptime...

    KM C6085 - Slitter Issue

Yes had this exact issue on ours, the slitter isn’t returning to home correctly. Such a poor engineering design to run every sheet through the slitter. I don’t know what all they did to fix it, it took several service calls, and the machine is now gone.

    Versant 280 Ghosting?

Yep, I’ve been down that road a few times, at the like for like route and also just the frustration of ongoing issues. Bad machines make it out into the field, or sometimes the techs are not equipped with the right training, tools, or diagnostic abilities to resolve your issue in a reasonable...

    Versant 280 Ghosting?

That…seems like a General Motors level of design flaw if true. My opinion - you pay big money for on site service, the tech needs to come out. And if they can’t solve it to your satisfaction/machine spec, then you go further up the chain until it is fixed. Phone support is only acceptable...

    Upgrading to a Canon V700

The deal you can get will certainly vary by location and by volume. Even if your current vendor ultimately provides the best deal to you, you wouldn’t know unless you shop around. And it’s likely that if you let them know you are shopping around, they will sharpen their pencil for you. Just...

    Versant 280 Ghosting?

Then I would push them to put in a new fuser / further troubleshoot if necessary, or replace the machine. It’s really that simple. I assume on this machine you should have a spare fuser on the shelf anyway, i always did with similar Xerox models. You should have a lemon clause on that...

    Upgrading to a Canon V700

There are definitely options and you owe it to yourself to shop around, no reason to settle for a machine / service you aren’t totally happy with.

    Versant 280 Ghosting?

In my experience this kind of ghosting is caused by fusing issues. Do you have a spare fuser you can swap in?

MGX 10 mil and 15 mil Synthetic Paper and Ricoh 7210

I don’t have this paper to try, but have you tried adjusting paper transfer settings plus or minus (no rhyme or reason to what helps) and your print speed? Try creating a new profile (I rarely use theirs)? What is the humidity like in your room?

    Versant 280 Registration

Yeah this is a good tip for heavy uncoated stocks - they aren’t perfect. Finch 130# uncoated cover is bad - every other sheet varies quite significantly. I use a lot of it on tight registering cards so i back trim 19x13 to 18.8x12.8.

    Xerox D125 Alignment

Is that as bad as it gets? I agree it isn’t great but at least compared to the j75s I fought with, I can see how this fits in spec. My recollection of Xerox’s registration spec is that it is all based on letter size, and 11x17 spec is double the printed spec. How noticeable is this when...

    Konica Minolta can't print orange?

I think it’ll be helpful if you define how you’re creating orange - is it a spot color (which one) or process (what is the build), what program you’re creating it in, is it a problem across all papers, and do you have samples of printing this color on this machine correctly before? Is this...

    Detecting Black and White Pages

It also depends on the program used to create the document. If it was created in word, for example, you can almost guarantee it’ll detect as color. The fastest way to determine how many black clicks a document registers is just to print a copy and take down the meters before and after. If...
