Preflight is a NEED for large-scale print businesses.

You are right for Nesting but you can achieve Step and Repeat in some form. But it is true that PitStop is not an imposition specific software.

    How Many Tries??

That's a pattern I have often seen indeed. For recurring B2B customers, some printers try to educate them because it's a win/win. For B2C, trying to educate is not worth the effort (and the margin). This is where automation can really help to mimimize impact on operators.

I guess same applies in many domains, I call it human nature ;)

Preflight is a NEED for large-scale print businesses.

I really don't think we disagree on the statement that as much as possible should be done upfront at the design stage. I just want to make a difference between a PDF technically well built vs a PDF that matches the specific printing requirements. Another example is number of pages. That a PDF...

Preflight is a NEED for large-scale print businesses.

I respect that opinion. Allow me to keep thinking about use cases that would still require prepress work. Ensuring a file is ready to be sent to cut, or adding late minute varnish being one of them.

Sorry I was afk, great to hear that it brings satisfaction!!

Preflight is a NEED for large-scale print businesses.

Theoritically, even questionable. I do agree PDF producers should do Print-ready PDFs but even for the most conscious of them, the PDF 1.7 specification leaves room to interpretation. And on top of that, while a PDF may be correct on a technical plan, there might still be some requirements...

Preflight is a NEED for large-scale print businesses.

Hi When it comes to Preflighting, a few applications come to mind. I will unsurprisingly promote Enfocus PitStop Pro as one of the leading solution on the market used daily but several thousands of users worldwide: PitStop Pro | Enfocus

    How Many Tries??

The native tools in PitstopPro are game changers. Indeed they are. Not to mention that in the last 25.03 release, we also added a default preflight profile that addresses Canva PDF files specifically :)

Smartstream Designer taking FOREVER to create job

If you need to combine imposition to data merge, you could have a look at the XMPie Personalia app for Switch. Because there you could combine output from XMPie to an imposition app like Griffin or Phoenix and have all set in one go.

Mail Merge Numbering for Slitter Style Devices

If you really want to get this done in InDesign, there are ways to do it without even using the Mail merge feature. You can use a combination of Paragraph Stymes/Object Styles, numbering and list options to have numbers automatically generated. You could place some frame on the master spreads...

    Crop Pdf in specific size

It's good that you find your way. Allow me for completeness to mention that PitStop also allows you to modify page boxes in a blink. You would ask Crop box to fit the Trim box then extend.

    AI script, crop objects.

Just curious. I wouldn't want to hard edit artworks in the creative application. Imagine if you need to move some items…too late, already cut! But maybe this is used in production when doing last PDF edits in Illustrator. But the latter should be avoided as much as possible. I would preserve...

    AI, rectangle around selected objects.

Hi, It's weird that you got banned after this simple question but there are two ways of answering it: Automation in Ai can be done by scripting (JavaScript). You can find scripters and order script development for them or start learning yourself and have this achieved. Automation in PitStop...

Any ideas? (extract images from PDF, run image enhancements, then replace back into PDF)

Hi @TradeGraphicDesign You also have some image enhancements features in PitStop Pro that you can even automate with PitStop Server for higher volume: This video is using an old PitStop version but those features are obviously still part of the current 2023 version: Hope that helps, Loic

How to "hard proof" in Photoshop?

You may want to use "Turning on View > Proof Colors". Note that you need to set the format of the proof first (View > Proof Setup). Obviously, this will produce the best results with a calibrated screen.
