    Spiral Binding Closing Down

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I haven't ordered from them in a while since we have a better local source, but that's gonna screw a lot of printers that used them primarily for bindery supplies. Saddle Point Systems | Bay Area Binding & Print Finishing Experts since 1989 is a good alternative for...

    You May Need This

I saw some samples last week and it's come a long way from the original version, so much so that I couldn't distinguish it from offset. It's still like $750k though, so it still needs 10+ years to be cost effective.

MGX 10 mil and 15 mil Synthetic Paper and Ricoh 7210

    Challenge 305 CRT went bad

If the CRT is truly dead you can convert it to a Microcut. We did this about 5 years ago on ours and it's worked great.

CanonIX 3200i w/ Prisma Trying to run NCR

Not sure what the Prisma Controller looks like on the iX, but on the Canon we have you can set up variable data and page counts per set. I've honestly never used it, but it should make cyclic media work properly.

CanonIX 3200i w/ Prisma Trying to run NCR

Haven't used an iX, but I used Prisma on a Varioprint 6320 for about 10 years. I always duplicate my pages for NCR jobs. So 2 pages for 2part, 3pages for 3part. I'm not sure if the cyclic media function will work otherwise. If it did jam it would always kick out the bad sheets to the purge tray...

User Colour Drum change on Xerox Iredesse?

Very easy to change out. The additional color stations are pretty easy to swap out as well. I think the thing I like most about the Iridesse is that everything is chest height, so you're not bending over or squatting to clear jams or swap parts.

    Press Trouble Shooting

I'm gonna order $3000 in parts that probably won't fix the issue. Let me know when they come in and then I'll ignore your phone calls for 3 days before I show up again 20 minutes before closing.

    Versant 4100 color problems

Have you tried dropping PDFs into the Fiery? You should be eliminating as many variables as possible by using a PDF workflow and not using drivers imo.

    Ryobi DirectPress 5634 Installer

My 2 cents is that was a bad purchase when they came out, it's an awful purchase now. If you're still going to buy it, maybe Presstek will install and service it, but it'll likely cost more than what you paid for it. I know we spent almost 4 grand just taking ours to a junkyard last year.

Looking for a Paper Jam Removal Tool

We have one that came with the Xerox Iridesse. It's definitely a Xerox tool, I'll ask a tech next time we have a service call if he has info. I think these pliers are significantly more useful though. EDIT: Here is the Xerox part #: Xerox 655N00569 JAM CLEAR ASIST

    4over Issues

Based on what we've been getting back from them lately, I'm pretty sure the process is almost entirely automated. We've got cards back with white on them because they weren't even cut properly. I think they just figure at their volume it's more cost effective to let bad jobs go than it is to QC...

    Bulk Mail Strapping Machine

We're really fortunate to not have too many issues locally. Our scorecard is almost perfect, so they let us drop bulk mail without anyone present. It makes drop off so much easier when I don't have to ring the bell and wait 15 minutes for someone to finally answer the door.

2 - Ricohs That Will Not Hold Back UP

That's how my Canon works too. I usually have to do a 1-2mm shift, but it holds fine once I do my initial adjustment.

    Bulk Mail Strapping Machine

Do you know if there's a bulletin about that? We've been using rubber bands without any issue, but I don't want to get dinged on our mailer scorecard if that's the case. EDIT: I found it. Looks like it only applies to flats, and 99% of our mail is letter. Still good to know!
