Optically clear ink jet printing
The issue is the piece is 28" x 28" with 64 separate squares of one color. It's a chess board with optically clear color (on both sides). After the color is applied it will be laser cut. So it will need to be remasked to keep it from smoke damage from the laser...
I'm creating a prototype piece out of 1/4" clear plexiglass sheet. It requires optically clear or transparent ink (one color) to be applied. Think of optically clear window film. After some research Direct Jet makes a flat bed jet printer that can achieve this but only up to 13" wide.
