    Versatile, Reliable, Beginner Press

without question I would pick the Versant. This is based on my experience with the 2100, not sure of the differences with the 280. A few annoying things we had with the C7090, it would not auto select trays so if I wanted to load up 2 or 3 trays with the same stock it would not work as I would...

    Quoting software for wide format

Our business has shifted out of traditional printing to wide format. What we use now works ok for quoting but is really made for offset/digital so it could do a lot of things better for wide format. Any recommendations for software for quoting wide format?

    Printing variable data envelopes

This gets charged through mailing. There is no extra software though, this type of data merge can be done easily through Indesign.

Quick and easy colour calibration for SwissQ?

Our shop has made a big shift and we are focusing on wide format, our print division we merged with another company. So I am in somewhat new waters with wide format, I have done some wide format before, but not to the extent we do now. We have a SwissQ flatbed. Talking to our operators they say...

    Printing variable data envelopes

We would not charge extra for printing variable envelopes. Data charges would be part of the mailing fee for that work. Printing merged envelopes is pretty much the same as printing regular envelopes with the minor caveat of making sure they are kept in order.

I have Xerox Versant 2100 for 4 Month i have this issu when i printing Background come with Bands and line as this sample 50% of 4 color

you are cleaning that yourself? I would never touch that on our Versant 2100 and never had the type of issue you showed in your pictures. Might be you are causing this yourself by cleaning this.

Quickly Add Bleed to a PDF in Adobe Acrobat

I agree. I have found over the years little work arounds that are easy and get the job done without spending any money at all on software. This bleed is a great tool and I have already started using it as I used to do this manually to fix/add bleeds. I also watched the pitstop video and that...

    What are Pantone P colours?

In more research it seems the colours are indeed in Indesign already and may have been for a while. I still don't understand the purpose of these colours. With my clients rebranding they have a bunch of these Pantone colours. Pantone 99-8 C. I know the C is for coated, the rest identifies what...

    What are Pantone P colours?

Had a client doing a rebranding and they have a bunch of Pantone P colours. I have never seen these before. do these translate to specific Pantone U or C colours for 2 and 3 colour prints? Or is this supposed to be some CMYK Pantone?

    Illustrator as a PDF editor

Illustrator can be a PDF editor if the PDF was made with Illustrator. When I work with Illustrator I generally save my files as PDF for quick and easy previewing and proofing, it also maintains everything I did in Illustrator, including all layers and editing effects. People (myself included)...

PDF's made on Mac different then PC?

It does not fix the issue, I was hoping it would but got the same issues as with previous version. I use the beta now when I want to save a PDF that needs to run through our version of Apogee in order for it to work. 1 - The ones I have checked have all been created in latest version of...

odd question...anyone need old Snow Leopard installer disks for anything?

I don't need them but I have been trying to save installers into cloud storage as you never know when you will want to do something with an older machine. Might be worth creating an installer file and just toss the discs

PDF's made on Mac different then PC?

That is most likely our culprit, it worked fine before the latest update. Hopefully they get this patched soon! Thanks!

Do you use a print shop management software?

We use Docket Manager. It does the quoting, invoicing and basically is our docket but in digital form. We still print out physical dockets to move with the job and for samples, but everything is done through Docket Manager.

PDF's made on Mac different then PC?

This is why I find this confusing, there should be no differences. I set the file up in windows, placing the supplied PDF (this is not isolated to one PDF from one client, but across various clients) in Indesign, I check things out, usually run a preflight in Acrobat to convert to CMYK. I then...

PDF's made on Mac different then PC?

So if you take the same native Indesign file and make a PDF on PC and Mac it handles differently on your Fiery? Sounds like the same issue and maybe showing there is something different in how both operate in different OS's

PDF's made on Mac different then PC?

They have switched us all over to PC here at work, of course no one is all that thrilled about it in prepress. We have the latest updates of Adobe CC and are using an ancient version of Apogee to basically send files to our Indigo as well as to make plates on our AGFA (rebranded Screen CTP). We...

    Xerox Versant 80- Purchase?

Like others have said I would not jump into a digital press without a service contract. There is always going to be something you will need and it is nice having support there to get you any part you need without you paying (on top of your contract) for it. I had a Versant 2100 and loved the...

Need experienced thoughts on printer options

Colour calibration and registration alignment have really been mostly automated these days, I remember the headaches of registration and consistent colour when I first got into digital. Now it is a dream in comparison! I am a big fan of the Versant 2100, had one for a number of years and it was...
