    Printers Plan and customer data

LOL, former busted dumbass landscaper myself, so I know the feeling! PP is quite expensive and Odyssey isn't much better cost wise. Not sure about making your own, but I have heard people have some elaborate Excel files. PP is actually an Access database system at heart.

    Ricoh B/W Digital Presses

We have a 6136 with about 13 million on it and the service between PM's is getting closer and more frequent. Image quality takes a dump fast and the pressure rollers tend to delaminate quick. We have an 8200 that has about 4.5 million and it has about 1/2 the service calls and we run a lot of...

RISO 7150 Service Menu / Unlock Front Doors

Thin piece of metal run up and down between the doors will trip the lock and the doors will open. It's a little lower than half way if I recall.

    Printers Plan and customer data

I believe there is an export option. I'm working with MI4P on their Odyssey system and I thought they said they have a way of extracting the majority of the historical data.

How does your company file projects once complete?

We have entire file cabinets for single accounts, that's after purging orders after 5 years with no activity. I can't imaging not file by company name, we would go crazy finding reorders. Right now we have 22 cabinets for customers files.

Xerox 1000i - Diagnostics not loading properly due to press serial number being "Not Available"

The 1000i will no longer be supported by Xerox later this year. I'm betting they shut everything down associated with it to turn it into a brick.

Passing of Helmut "Hal" Heindel another Printing Industry Great and Guru of Print Estimating/MIS

So sad to hear, we were one of his first beta testers of Morning Flight and he always said we had it free for life. Unfortunately we outgrew it and had to switch after many years. Hal and I had many conversations which almost always veered away from printing. He will be missed, that's for sure!

Used Xerox strategy - Color 1000i

Xerox service sucked so bad we unplugged it, shoved it in a corner and forgot about it for the last 2 years. We replaced it with a Ricoh 9210 and a 7210 and pay less in lease and maintenance and have better output and uptime. Xerox should pick it up when we make our last payment next month. I...

    Excessive revisions and proofs

I understand the charging for the designers time, we already do that. We also charge hourly and 95% of the time we are pretty spot on with the design and have a few minor tweaks or small copy edits. So back to my question. How many revisions would you consider excessive? This is for the other 5%...

    Excessive revisions and proofs

In the past we've never really limited the number of revisions and proofs a client would receive with their orders when we are doing the layout. Recently we have had a few go to the extreme and now I want to limit excessive revisions without additional charges. What are those of you who have...

Used Xerox strategy - Color 1000i

Ohio - According to the letter they will not renew the service contract. Mine has been sitting in the warehouse in pieces for 2 years. Service was so bad I had to go with Ricoh.

Software options for wide format printing

If you want to design at full size go for CorelDraw. If you scale everything then Adobe. Personally I have both and use CorelDraw 99% of the time. Files are output to a Colorado, Arizona, Colex and Graphtec 9000 with no issues.

Used Xerox strategy - Color 1000i

Just received a letter from Xerox that they are no longer supporting the 1000i we have had sitting in the warehouse the last 2 years. They stated supplies are only available for a limited time as well.

    Beware of Printware

Their costs per image are pretty spot on if not a little conservative. Right now we have 3,575,000 on the original print head. We average about 147,000/month with the highest month at 220,000.

iJetColor 1175 Pro general color experiences?

Make sure you are using Pantone C(coated) colors and not U(uncoated) in your files. Don't forget you can tweak the colors as well in the DFE. We print on normal everyday off the shelf envelopes, not the expensive Digi-M from Western. We print a lot of corporate colors and have never had any...

Announcement cards - which printer and cutter/trimmer?

Find a local printer to partner with. They have the equipment and the knowledge. We partner with resellers all the time, no need for them to invest in the equipment or the infrastructure to run small quantities. Most will not want to deal with your client anyway. It's better for me to deal with...

Having a nightmare time with BCC Bulkmailer and looking for alternatives

I tried BCC, and left with 2 years of subscription on the books to switch back to AccuZIP. I hated the situation so much I was willing to loose a few thousand dollars to get out. One of the worst purchases we made and should have never switched from AccuZIP. BCC support is the horrible at best...

Preferred Stocks for the iJet 1175P

Agree the last 4 pallets have been Printmaster. Western is so hit and miss right now, sounds like real issues with labor.
