    Apogee Color Issues

We do a quarterly magazine where were having issues with placed PDF ads. There are some that have reds and oranges that are coming out pink after ripping through Apogee. Has anyone ran into this? If so, were you able to fix it. As of now, we're ripping the placed PDF ads in PS and updating the...

How to add a binding margin in Acrobat Pro?

Pitstop might be an option as well, depending on budget. You can write scripts to alter the bleed size, add non-printing FPO graphics for spiral binding, change page sizes, etc. It's pretty powerful.

OKI C931 CardStock Printing Very Dull Flat

Cardstock may be too thick for fuser to properly adhere the color to the substrate. There should be a setting somewhere to tell the printer that it's card stock and it will increase the temp of the fuser. Plus, things will print and appear more vibrant on a coated or glossy stock than on an...

    MAILCOM—2024 VEGAS EARLY-BIRD DEADLINE

Been to two. One in Atlantic City and one in Baltimore. Can't say I'd ever want to attend another. What could they possibly talk about that is new?

    Illustrator as a PDF editor

I just wish that they'd bundle some of their products better and offer more competitive pricing for smaller bundles. For instance, if I want InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, I either have to subscribe to them individually for $39.99 ea. a month or as part of a bundle. If I subscribe...

    Overprinting with Pitstop

We have an action created to remove all overprints. It was here when I was hired, so don't ask me how it was created.

    Illustrator as a PDF editor

If all they have is illustrator, their only option might be to take your pdf die template into illustrator to compile the art and the die file. While Illustrator can be used for page building, most people don't use it for that. Back in the day, before you had to "rent" Adobe products, some of...

I've been asking myself that question for the last 30 years.

    Photoshop with AI Generation

Keep in mind that A.I. uses the web in some cases to aggregate a complete image of the information input into it. So, if you're generating an image, it may pull art from other derivative art or even copyrighted materials.

Acrobat Pro, Marquee Zoom causing SBOD

One more thing. If not high res images, is it an Illustrator file with a bunch of masks, layers or objects that was converted to a PDF? Had one the other day that was 300MB, but had clipping masks, drop shadows and all that fun stuff.

    Apogee Shingling Question

We have a 64 page doc with a 16 page insert. They are set up as different products, because A: it doesn't print on the same stock and B: it doesn't fall exactly in the middle of the main doc due to an 8 pager at the beginning of the 64. When we turn shingling on, it does the book, but not the...

How would you tackle this VDP situation

Check out Inspire Designer by Quadient. We used it in a health/billing/prescription environment. Basically, you can set up a file (it's like a pagination software), but you can take a list and based on one column of the list, it can be set up to print the mailing info and then go out and select...

I'd go back and counter with keeping the same rate you already have, but offer him 40% on anything over $10,000. See how hard he's willing to work....or not .

Normalize -- Failed to generate a PDF

How big is your original PDF? I've had this error sometimes when the PDF is huge. I've also had individual pages bomb for no apparent reason. Once I isolated which page was causing it to fail, I ended up ripping the whole page in PS and replacing the page in the PDF with the PS PDF.

    crazy requests

We had a sales rep who had a client that had an image of their book on a book shelf. You could clearly read the spine, but the client requested that we move the book next to it so they could see the cover too.
