ink build up on coating blanket

Back off impression pressure until coating breaks and then go up until you get consistent caoting avross the sheet. Make sure you coating is at 13-17 seconds. And maybe change you process inks to K&E F1-Drive. You may have a tack issue.

    Light Fast Ink

Try K&E Novalux. We have had excellent results with this and all K&E inks. It should require no adjustment from you normal run. Thanks

    Which press and why

Quickmasters are great for 1 or 2 colors, but they share a impression cylinder so ink contamination will be an issue. The Ryobi is really the inly viable canidate that is mentioned. I ran one for 5 years they are truly workhorse machines. And with the advantage of the feedboard design the...

Single diameter imp. cylinder of SM52 vs. double diameter imp. cylinder

The number on reasonm for using a doulble impression cylinder is sheet bend. Less sheet bend less marking. Heidelberg has long used doubles in the CD line. These presses are famous for running mark free. I will agree with many of the comments here but after being in printing for 20 years I have...

    Roller Suggestions

Call Acorn Rollers in Chicago. They cover with Westland (Germany) compound and are the only company in the us to do so. Over the past few years Westland has become the cheif roller supplier to Heidelberg instead of Bottcher. And ordering form Acorn can in Some cases save you half. Thanks, Todd

C1S cover stock and gas ghosting

Try K&E F1 Drive process ink and Flint Starbase PMS. We have had excellent results with this combo. They are both high gloss inks and have low vocs. Sometimes to slow down the drying a little we will double dose with Tegra reducing Jelly. Watch your stack temp. To me any thing Over 100 degrees F...

    Coating over metallic inks

Try running a euro mettalic ink such as K&E. The mettalic pigment in these inks are a little more coarse and will give you a litte less of a deminished effect under the coating. Also check with Nicoat. I think they make a coating made for overprinitng mettalics. You can also reduced your tack...

    cip3/4 pre inking systems

I run a Heidelberg CD-102 and I have found that you need to turn your pre-setting values up as much as 40%. This is all according to the brand of ink you use. However most PMS inks are not as highly pigmented as Process inks. They this before adjusting at individual areas of the zone. Thanks, Todd

Prevent inks from changing colour when drying.

Change to K&E ink. They are very high pigment ink and all their Pantone colors are Bio or low solvent content. We run them and have very little dri-back problems. Watch you water settings when running it the have excellent water hold out and dry very good. Also Reds are the worst color due to...

Changing bearings on water form roller

Contact Acorn ROllers in Chicago and get a form from them. They are much cheaper and use Westlands ink compond. Westland rollers are made in Germany and have all but Replaced Bottcher as Heidelbergs roller supplier. A gear puller is a must for replacing bearings but the Acorn rollers will come...

    Gas/Gloss ghosting with Aqueous coating

Have any of you guys ever tried K&E waterless Ink? I have run it on a DI with great results. I have Also ran Tanaguchi with similar results but am not a great fan of Asian Ink. Both of these inks perfromed well and even with AQ coating I never had a problem with ghosting. However temperatur of...

    Exact ISO Ink Set Black

We use Heidelberg Axis Control on a cd 102. However, we use the t response in the set-up. You could have something out of calibration. The consloe on our press is equipped with a automatic pre-set curve trand adjustment, but you can also go into the settings for Axis and tell it waht you want...

    Ryobi question

I ran an Itek 3985 for years and I have to say that it is the best small press ever made. However you are correct when you talk about the original water systems. The Crestline is the greatest single addition to that press ever. Set it and forget it as Ron Popiel would say. I ran some very kille...

    ICP anti mark cylinder film

We have both a Heidelberg CD-102 and a SM-74. I have tried both the Orange Jackets and Superblue 2 nets. The Blue nets wor great but if you don. get them on right they will mark. The orange jackets work great for about a month and the as the glass starts to smooth they begin to mark as well. and...

    Standard ink densities?

The following are densities quoted to me from GATF and used by our pressroom. These are all T response densities and we use x-rite densitometers. These are all based on ideal press settings. We use All K&E 918 Bio Supreme Process Ink and K&E Easy Mix Bio Pantones. This is German Ink and in my...

    Density difference gripper to tail

The gear side door opened roll the press to where the arm is at it's lowest point. Pay attention to where the numbers on the disc are. The circled 1 is the default setting. We have found that running it to around 2.5 is where it runs best. To accomplish this, with the arm at the lowest point...

    Density difference gripper to tail

First of all, are you familiar with how to adjust the lateral distribution on this machine? It sounds like you are charging at the front of the sheet instead of the middle. We run a SM74 which is very similar and have had this problem. e-mail me at:[email protected] and we can have a discussion...
