    Quark

I'm still a fan off QuarkXpress. I know some people have problems with it but it suits my needs perfectly and it doesn't say Adobe on the box. However, STAY AWAY from version 10. Of all the FUBARS Quark (the company) have been guilty of in the past this is by for the worst. Because of the new...

    soft-proofing screens for PC

I would say LaCie, too. I'm not familiar with Eizo, though! You'd need a pretty big budget for either brand! The LaCie 730 (30") costs $4,239.99. The Eizo FlexScan SX3031W (30") with similar specs, can be had for $3,305.99. Mind you, the SX3031W might be old now, I notice the new Eizo...

    Quark pdfs

I wonder if Distiller's "Font Locations" might have got screwed up? In Distiller go to "Settings" > "Font Locations" and Remove everything. Quit Distiller and then re-launch it. It will then do a scan of your system to find the correct Locations.

    Script for Single Layout Mode

If you want Single Layout Mode as the default action, just make sure no document is open, go to Preferences and under General in the Project category and click on the check box next to Single Layout Mode to activate the option. From now on whenever you go "New", the option of Single Layout...

So me making a comment makes me the new "mod"? Interesting!! I thought it bizarre because it's a forum for QuarkXPress, the OP asked about doing something in QuarkXPress and you write to say that you have no idea how to do it because you don't know anything about QuarkXPress! Seemed like a...

    Photoshop CS4 System Requirements

It's been around since version 7 (when it was ported to OSX). Don't think that will help. I have mine set to the max recommended. I have my cache turned up to 8, though. But these things are for when you're actually working in Photoshop - shouldn't make a damn bit of difference if it's idling!?!

    Photoshop CS4 System Requirements

Yeah, I understand. But not happening to me. Takes up very little CPU process space. Illustrator and Pagemaker 13 hardly register. Dreamweaver takes up the most, but not that much. The one that I thought would be the CPU hog, Photoshop, is the one taking the least! What I have been getting, if...

    Link art to text

What? Are you talking about copying and pasting a graphic into text? If so, just copy (or cut) the graphic with the Item Tool (the 4 pointy thing) change to the Content Tool (the hand & cursor thing) and paste it where you want to (slightly different in XPress 8). When did you "use it"? This...

    Photoshop CS4 System Requirements

Running it on a G5 2Ghz Dual. Runs better (quicker, launches faster) than CS3. Weird!!

Clipping paths not selectable in Quark 7 or 6.5

What's wrong is that Photoshop's archaic Clipping Path feature is being used. There's really no need to implement that these days; it overrides the page layout program's functions. If the .eps is saved with regular Named Paths they will all be selectable and editable from within XPress...
