Xerox DocuColor Printed Leaked NSA Documents

It was introduced decades ago by an agreement with what was at the time the G7 nations, to assist in combating money counterfeiting. It is only a part of the anti-counterfeiting measures in printers and copiers, and doesn't open the manufacturer up to civil law suits.

iGen4 question about paper stocks setting up..

The DFE uses the information when it does a colour transformation from GRACol to the output profile of the printer / stock. Of course the colour management workflow on the DFE needs to be set up correctly. It comes down to a choice. Do you want your colour management to be as accurate as you...

iGen4 question about paper stocks setting up..

L*a*b* is a colourspace, just as RGB and CMYK are colourspaces. The "whitepoint L*a*b*" is the whitepoint of the paper, defined in L*a*b*. It describes the colour of the paper. Whether or not it is needed depends on your colour management workflow.

    Fiery vs. Freeflow Rip

The FreeFlow RIP has a different way of doing things, but it has consistent and accurate colour, a spot colour editor the same as the Fiery, automatic image enhancement and it has hot folders that can be set up to automatically impose PDF's. In my opinion, I'd rather have the FreeFlow for the...

    Xerox 560 Billing Question...

This negates the use of registration, but make a custom colour in your spot colour dictionary called Registration and make that colour 100% black only. This way the registration marks can't be used to check registration any more, but black and white pages with registration marks will count as...

Looking for Advice - Printed Image Corruption

It looks like posteurisation due to low resolution and JPG compression. Use a higher resolution image, and if you need to use JPG's, set the option to Maximum Quality when making the JPG. 72dpi is too low a resolution to use when designing for digital print.

Print a pdf directly to a printer to avoid repeated ripping of the same image

What sort of rip do you have connected to your printer? If it has hot folders, just drop the PDF into a hot folder and enable optimised PDF. If it has FreeForm or background forms, use them because they may be quicker to process the file.

    Complaint about letterheads

I'm not sure about fuser temps other than what has been mentioned earlier regarding Xerox temps, but the older Xerox machines that use oil do not use the newer wax-based toner. The non-oil machines use a wax-like component as a release agent.

    Has anyone installed CWS 5.3?

Don't install it on the RIP. I haven't got the release notes in front of me at the moment, but from memory it can't be installed on the RIP for the 700.

Minolta c6501 - Black text prints as CMYK, any solution?

Kantblue - The crop marks are a colour called Registration, which is CYMK black, so to fix that, add a spot colour called Registration to the Fiery and make it 0,0,0,100. bgardner - Check your GCR setting in the CMYK workflow and set it to Source GCR. There will probably be grey and black...

Xerox 700DCP w/ bustled EFI - black graphic on black BG output

Check your expert colour settings. It sounds like one black is vector and the other a graphic, and the two are going through different colour paths. Try setting the Black workflow to Rich Black On. Something else to check would be the GCR option. With 0,0,0,100 you'd want to have the GCR option...

    Feedback wanted on Xerox 700

Depending on the type of Fiery (external or internal) and the options you have installed, you can preview the pre-ripped file in Acrobat and use Pitstop (an acrobat plugin that comes with the Fiery or options) to edit the color. Then save the file and print like normal.

Exporting a VPS file to another printer computer

If the printer has a Creo RIP, then they could use the VPS file. If they don't, change the output technology in PSM to Optimised PostScript or Optimised PDF and then they can run it on any RIP (though not all RIP's will be able to process the file as an optimised or VDP file, so some RIP's will...

    Xerox 700 NVM Mottle

That NVM is not a fix for mottle, it's a workaround for gloss differential. Have a look at the image transfer adjustment settings in custom paper settings (that is the adjustment for mottle).

Running BW on a color machine

With some colour machines the colour devs are continuously "topped up" with fresh toner and if you are only printing in black, the colour toner is not being emptied or used. This will lead to problems with the colour dev units becoming too full. The best advice is to ask your service provider.

    What happened to training rant?

Just a quick note, I'm a bit pressed for time so I'll edit it later :) I'm a trainer for Xerox, and the branch I work for certainly offers training but it's a two way street. We allocate a day or two for training, sometimes more depending on the machine, but in a lot of cases the customer will...

What is X8002 and C7000VP duplex speed?

kolan - If you are printing an A4 or Letter flyer, then the DC8000AP will print 80 of them per minute. If you print the flyers two up on an A3 or Tabloid "sheet", then the DC8000AP will still print 80 of the A4 or Letter flyers a minute, but it is only printing 40 A3 or Tabloid "sheets" per...

What is X8002 and C7000VP duplex speed?

ppm and ipm are two different units... ppm is pages per minute and ipm is images per minute. The speed is quoted as 80 ipm (images per minute with an image being an A4 or Ltr image). So when printing A4 or Ltr single sided, 80 ipm = 80 ppm. When printing A4 or Ltr two sided, 80 ipm = 40 ppm...

    700DCP + EX700 / Mac / Driver Trouble

There is a CWS4 Clean Up Utility, but only works on Windows (CWS4 is not an option on the Mac). There is also a Fiery Printer Delete Utility, but that also only works on Windows. AFAIK there is no printer delete utility or clean up utility for the Mac, but I stand corrected if anyone can point...
