    -bleed in preps

Yes Yes You can do both the booklets that I am thinking and the Printer Spreads you are interested in. You can N-Up the pages and select if you want them duplex, etc. and get them all up on your desired press sheets. You can email me a sample file and what your desired outcome and I can set...

    -bleed in preps

16-Pager 16-Pager Sorry for the "pitch". We just used to work with Preps and it was a nightmare. As to your question it does make signature booklets. I think you can download the software and try it out. We make booklets all the time with it. Thanks!

    PDF Embedded Fonts not Consistent

We try to embed rather than embed subset fonts. It could be you have a corrupt font and so it appears to be embedding, but it isn't good and the older version of Acrobat is catching it because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles trying to fix the preview. I have seen funky things like...

Postcard company wanting super rich black?

That is a strange request for such small type. You would think they would have registration issues. It does make sense (as Gordo stated) that if the black type overprints various images the richness of the black will vary. I am still surprised it is such a high amount of the other 3 colors...

    Text Dropped out????

There could be a box or something you aren't seeing that is placed over the text so when it flattens it covers up the white. There is a function in PitStop that will let you globally fix the overprint issue if this is it. If you have an Illustrator file you could also take all your vector text...

    Layering AI files

Usually transparency is an issue for most printers. If your image is transparent over items that are not pantones they should be able to work with it. We usually get a PDF and make sure everything is CMYK and then print it to a new PDF with Adobe PDF printer with all our settings to have no...

    cmyk to cmyk convertion

I usually use the conversion tool in Acrobat and select to preserve blacks. Acrobat 9 does this pretty well. I do it after I save the file as a PDF. PitStop might have some helps as well.

    -bleed in preps

I thought this forum was to help people I thought this forum was to help people I am actually an employee at a print company and have been for over 10 years. I don't get to log on here much so I post any help I can at that time. I went through most of the workflow posts and nothing really...

software you just couldn't live without? (for running a printing company)

We now receive about 85% of our jobs as PDFs. We could not live without PitStop and Imposal. PitStop helps us to fix the issues that come with PDFs from inexperienced customers. Imposal helps us to fix problems as well as to impose the documents to what we need for our machines. Good luck!

    imposing PDFs

I don't like Quite's Trim and Shift because it isn't a true shift. I use Imposal. You can combine the document and then shift just odds or just evens, all in the same document so you don't have to combine them after. You can also do just the odds and then just the evens and then combine them...

    -bleed in preps

You do it by avoiding preps. Too much programming involved. I would get an imposition software. I recommend Imposal.

What is everyone using for imposition proofs

We know that our machine automatically shifts .25" for gripper so if we want to run a proof duplex we will just use the "shift pages" feature in our imposition software, Imposal. We shift one of the sheets over the .25 and then run it duplex. It usually works. Good luck!

    Auto Impose

Imposal Imposal I usually will right click on the PDF files I need and select to combine them in Acrobat. A window will pop up and I will then add the document I need double of again. I know this isn't as automated as you may like, but it is simple math. I then use my imposition software...

    Quite Imposing or similar software

This just looks like it is a stripped version, so in the long run I would have to purchase something anyway. I'll just stick with what I am using, Imposal.

What are the key ideas for achieving greater efficiency in prepress?

PDFs and such PDFs and such I would say this has helped us with the changes in types of file submissions and such: 1. Attention to detail! To me this has been huge. Nothing worse than people being lazy when checking files or proofs. 2. Software to work with PDFs. We get about 90% of our...

    Quite Imposing or similar software

Imposal or Quite Imposal or Quite Quite will get you the basic 2 up you need for your purpose in this situation, I believe. It has been a long time since I have used Quite because it wasn't very WYSIWYG. We moved to Imposal at our shop. There are some added features that have helped us a...

    Acrobat 9

I am having issues with Acrobat 9. I will work in the program and I may have a few documents open. Sometimes when I go to close a file it will completely shut down my Acrobat. Anyone else have any stability issues with Acrobat 9?

    Selecting Odd/Even pages

If you use Imposal impositioning software you should be able to do this. There is a selection where you can separate even and odd pages. You can then do whatever you need to the evens and the odds. Then you can leave them apart or you can then combine them back using the same software...

    PDF Imposing software

Avoid Quite Avoid Quite I would avoid Quite Imposing. I have worked with 2 programs at my location. We used to work with Quite and ran into all sorts of problems. It doesn't allow you to preview what you are doing so if you miss something and impose it, it is wrong and then you have to go...
