    Using Nexus Manager over VPN

Nexus Manager cannot work from different subnet. Nexus Manager cannot work from different subnet. Nexus manager only works within the same subnet with Nexus server (Rip). If you can masquarade your VPN tunnel to appear as part of the local subnet (VLAN via VPN?), it *could* work. So yes...

    How do they do it?

It is the expertise and engineering knowledge of the system integrator, that you are paying for. Not small pieces of metal and plastic. If you can achieve that same functionality with a fraction of the price, please feel free to set up a competing OEM manufacturer. It is called "free market...

Epson 9800 Print Head Printing Nothing?

Dried beyond recovery? Dried beyond recovery? DMP, The Initial Ink Filling procedure (or multiple Power Cleaning cycles) are required whenever the Print Head is replaced. (Your novel cleaning procedure certainly constitutes that.) There are plenty of places where it is necessary to have all...

    Anyone here use ArtPro?

Yes Can Do! Yes Can Do! Yes. First create cut + dielines as regular ArtPro lines. Then use "Window - Structural Design" tool to define selected line(s) as 'Cut' or 'Crease' as appropriate. You can then use "File - Structural Design - Export..." to export as .ARD file. This is then usable in...

Transitioning from Nexus10.1 to Automation Engine

Hi, We too are in basically same situation as 'Joren'. Existing Nexus 10.1.2 (no Nexus Processor, though) connected to AE 12. We have come across some issues with Nexus integration: For instance, Nexus Public Parameters are not passed through AE to ArtPro "Launch Workflow" (former Shuttle)...

Has anyone used ESKO server/tools from remote workstation.

Possible but against license terms Possible but against license terms Technically this is possible, tested and works. But it is unequivocally against Esko's licensing terms. They license their products on "site" basis, i.e. each license is tied to a geographical location. (Although they have...

    Am I paranoid or?

The similar feature has been implemented on e.g. Thunderbird email application. When it detects word "attach*" on the body text, it will pop up a prompt at the bottom of the window with option to add attachment. This kind of off-line feature, where no outsider is parsing my emails, is quite...

Hard proof, soft proof, no proof?

You mention "pharmaceutical". With that - always demand signed hard copy contract proofs - ALWAYS!! No exceptions. To prove the point: Who takes responsibility, if they print 50 000 boxes of pills, that says "Take 1 pill every day" - when the safe dose would be 1/2 pill every day...

Getting PDFs to play well with ArtPro

Do not, I repeat, Do Not flatten Do not, I repeat, Do Not flatten I Concur: Whatever you do, do not flatten. PDF 1.4 allows ArtPro to import any and all transparencies into Artpro fuctionality. Only a handful of Tiffs are generated. Plus the entire job is still 100% editable. Everywhere...

Is the ArtPro 10 release to endUser ?

ArtPro 10 is released ArtPro 10 is released ArtPro 10 is released, and has been available for download for quite some time now. You will need to contact EAW or your local sales rep. to get the updated license. That is, if you are on Maintenence Contract, of course. Before that, AP 10 will not...

    PDF display question

Overprint Preview? Overprint Preview? One thing I have found causing confusion due to different/unreliable page display when using Adobe Reader, is "Overprint Preview" setting. If this is off, Adobe Reader will display certain transparencies (A drop shadow being a prime example!) incorrectly...

Please help me understand the CMYK RGB workflow!

The problem is in the fact that the 100% cyan you see on your computer screen (which is, by the way, an RGB device - only simulating cyan...) is different from e.g 100% cyan from your desktop printer. Again, the same 100% cyan, when printed on a high-end proofer, is a different colour. And...

Concentric dot on sheet-fed for packaging cartons

@Kevin It seems we are talking from a little bit diffrent points of view here: Yes, Concentric can be challenging to plate making, when the equipment are not of good quality or condition. As David already mentioned, the very implementation of Concentric Screening at a customer site begins with...

Concentric dot on sheet-fed for packaging cartons

Concentric -> higher rulings Concentric -> higher rulings Isn't one of the points of Concentric to enable the use of higher rulings. This is due to its intrinsic ink limiting characteristics. In that sense, it is valid to compare e.g. 250 lpi Concentric with 175 lpi AM. It will indicate the...

Dealing with screened 1 bit tiffs in ArtPro to Nexus

I would agree. Currently it may be your best option. While you could merge the 1-bit seps on Photoshop (depending on the compression used), it would produce huge uncompressed composite file, making working with it quite tough and slow... I wish you success. :)

Dealing with screened 1 bit tiffs in ArtPro to Nexus

I am not a specialist in PS program code, but to me this appears to be quite similar to the Nexus Link files you refer to. The file DotSpy generates, is not a merged hires file (and you don't even need to 'Merge Windows' on DotSpy.) The EPS generated by DotSpy is quite like a regular Link file...
