    EPSON 9880 Image Skewing

I found the manual for your printer here but for some reason it was downloading at 3 kbps so I didn't get the chance search it. I haven't done a paper calibration on an Epson, but you should be able to phone the free support line and someone could at least tell you if there are any known fixes...

    EPSON 9880 Image Skewing

I had the skewing and size issue with my Xerox 8160, and maintence on the feeding mechanism and paper calibration solved the problem. Might not be your issue, but I'd perform a paper calibration anyway.

    Exporting PDFs at 200%

You might be right on that, although I didn't think so, but I guess the main point is that no resolution is lost (unless the PDF gets optimized or something).

    Exporting PDFs at 200%

Exactly. Especially if your images are at half size, even they would print perfectly fine. The RIP will take your PDF input and as it rips, it will render the zeros and ones at twice the size, width, etc. So any vector type aspect will be completely fine. When it goes to double the sizes of your...

    Exporting PDFs at 200%

He speaks the truth. I had the same question about enlarging a year ago, and what I found in practice is that while enlarging the PDF through Pitstop, Distiller, or any prepress app should technically create a better print, enlarging at machine level produces a print that is indestinguishable...

Score & Folding after Laminating problems

This must be the method that was used, sidneykidney. It had never occured to me before, but it does make sense. I wonder if anyone reading this thread has used a machine that is capable of heat scoring? I'd be interested to know more about it.

a digital print shop in a shopping mall?

I think the Staples and Office Depot's of the world also lean towards customer convenience. Stores in malls often cater to impulse or 'fun' type purchases. I think the orders you recieved from that spot would probably be for unneeded business cards, posters, larger prints of photos, scanning and...

Score & Folding after Laminating problems

In order for something like that to stay folded, most likely the fibers holding the two halves would need to be all but crushed. Laminate can be creased and folded, but when there is 350gsm paper between the laminate it may be all but impossible. One solution might be to deeply perforate the...

Help spend someone else's money on a new workstation

More cores mean more ability to run multiple applications smoothly at the same time. Your new machine should be able to communicate without problem with your older servers, unless your older servers are not correctly set up. At a small print shop, this most certainly could be the case. I'm used...

    Printer timing out...

That's great to know Bart. I'll have to check out what the TI chip adds. I wonder if that same file would work if connected by ethernet or by USB. Thanks for posting back with the solution. Long live PrintPlanet.

Contact with clients during a print job

Actually you're right, I could see a number of out customers wanting to make changes to anything that was not "already printed" so that's a good point.. I'll have to bring that one up.

CMYK 2 CMYK (Device link) and PDF/X-4

I bet someone who knows the answer to your question would also know the answer to mine, but what is CMYK 2 CMYK, CMM, and CMS? Wait I'll take a guess... "S" stands for System and "C" stands for Computer?

Contact with clients during a print job

Yes gordon, I believe those options will be, well, optional. That is to say that the CSRs and sales agents can decide which of that information is visible for which customer. For example, one customer who puts through three or four web2print orders dailiy might not want all that information...

    Printer timing out...

I've dealt with an incredibly wide range of problems on my Xerox 8160 + WFC Rip, your symptoms included. There's a couple things I'd check out in an effort to fix it. Firstly, I've had this type of error when my hard drive filled up. Hey, don't mock me, the thing is a massive 15 GB. If your HD...

    Chairs For Prepress

This is going on my wall of truth in the quotes section. David, can I ask about how much you guys paid per chair? From how you describe them they sound like a solid comfortable chair. Any chair that has a name must be pretty good. I'm also asking this to try to get back on topic.

    research - printing alternative currency

My thought is that it seems like a poor use of pulp. I don't think local currencies benefit anyone other than those creating and printing the bills. As a form of artistic expression, sure. But what is the benefit of bringing that kind of thing into actual use? According to the article, it is to...

    epson 9700 banding, dark/white

That's an interesting one isn't it? After pondering this for a while I think the issue must be with the carriage, or the print cartridges / nozzles. If the lines were only on one side of the print no matter what, I might suspect the feeding was some how skewing the paper. But, if you see the...
