Looking for sellers of Shinohara machines

We had a Shinohara 66 for several years. The best tech we ever had was Brian Miller out of New York State. He is very connected to reputable dealers as well. 1-585-739-1849. Tell him Kevin in Barre, Vermont sent you.

    Humidity and fit problems

I have seen similar problems that had nothing to do with humidity (although grain is a possibility, you say both grain directions give you problems?) I would seriously look into the condition of the grippers. Gripper tip wear or mis-adjustment, along with gripper timing (overlap) can be...

Tear and Crushed Spine Trimming Perfect Bound Books

Here is an answer. We have seen this MANY times and the best workaround (shy of an angle regrind) is to 'relief cut' before the final trim. In other words.... make one cut 1/8 inch out from your final trim on the head and foot. THEN make final head and foot trim. You should be able to...

    Mof?

I have run a couple MOs and they will definately put ink on paper, but they were a 'lightweight' design to cost compete against the new imports (think Asian)of the late 80s and early 90's era. Early serial #s dont have some of the later upgrades that the later models got, so if there are no...

    UV coating over Digital?

We OFTEN UV coat offline within minutes of printing on our IGEN 3. Fuser oils and all. They say to wait 72 hours for most finishing operations (esp. binding) for the oil to 'dissipate', but we use a quality Kelstar coating in an FMA coater with excellent results.

Does Gloss UV always give Texture / Grain?

We had this problem when we first began offline UV coating, as we were trying to get more sheets out per hour than realistic. Roller speeds slowed down to 30% (ours is a FMA 3 roller design) and slower belt speed for 'flow-out' have given us the glassy look that we wanted. Promised speeds are...

What would you do if you win?

Really? I love to print and have done it for 19 years, BUT....... with 4 million...... I could do all the cool stuff I wanted to do while I was pulling those countless double shifts. I could play a little while I had a little youth to do it. Thats a no-brainer. I would grab my gear and be on...

    Registration on a Ryobi 3302

When everything is right mechanically, and there is a decent stock, I have seen these presses run 4 color process in 2 passes. For a pushguide press, that is impressive to me. The tech manual has some great timing info that I have had to refer to from time to time. A lot of techs dont...
