    Best solvent wide format printer

my 2¢... We have 5 Epson GS6000's. One out of the 5 is our problem child. Tech has been out and replaced pretty much the whole printer. However, the other 4 have not had any issues whatsoever. Also, we run them as fast as we can and still get pretty decent quality, but if you run at 1440...

30 different stocks, 4 B1 Presses (Really Old, Very old, Old, and fairly New)

When using the SRC, it adjusts the patches to the Lab values for the ICC chart. When you adjust white point in PM5, it is after the chart has been scanned and I assume the ICC is adjusting to your custom white point.

30 different stocks, 4 B1 Presses (Really Old, Very old, Old, and fairly New)

Agree with Rich. Probably going to have to profile each substrate. IDEAlliance has a calculator you can use your substrate Lab readings to create new patches for characterization chart you can then use for the ICC. We have 40 different materials, but they have a close enough white point, I don't...

Newbie question: What supplies and equipment do I need for this job?

I work at a large format company and we have Epson GS6000's that work great printing on window perf. But you are looking for smaller, Epson has a smaller version of the GS6000, not sure of Version # though. Oh we use vinyl window perf and I profiled a material that is the same...without the...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

Okay, crap, DCurry and Rich both had it right. For some reason, I didn't "get" the turn off color management in Adobe. By just setting the selection to "off" in the color management policies would do what I needed. Thanks guys, and sorry for not realizing it from the beginning. I was...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

Hi Rich, thanks for the reply! Yeah, that is the way I have it set up, but Onyx is still doing some weirdness when there is a transparency, but if I ASSIGN GRACoL to the file it is fine. I HAD Adobe set up to "Convert to Profile"(GRACoL) no matter what the embedded profile was from customer, as...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

Visualaid, Thanks for the reply, but I think you may be replying without reading the whole thread, which is cool. It's long winded. You don't have to reread it, I got a work around.

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

That is the way we were set up for a year, but when there are spot colors and transparencies, appearance differs a bunch. Yeah, we send files to press without GRACoL, because I have profiled everything to work in the GRACoL color space and have our workflow set up to control that, the problem we...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

to be more specific... We handled files this way.. File comes in, we preflight by getting it to a pdf, out of whatever file. The settings in Adobe were to Convert to GRACoL automatically, so no matter what profile it would convert colors. Sometimes with transparencies and spot colors, and other...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

Sorry, I guess I needed to be more specific than quotes around Convert and assign, and maybe put "Convert vs Assign" or something in the thread name. My bad.

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

Hey Dan, We are not creating files, and we want to stay sway from converting, we need to assign. There is a big difference of how it changes color. I think we may have a work around. I have tested a few files this morning, by copy/pasting artwork into a new file(document), it seems to assign and...

    SWOP to GRACoL Conversion

So, we print using GRACoL, we have one of our main customers that use SWOP. We have been "converting" to GRACoL, against my better judgement, because the prepress manager and I are concerned some people will forget to "assign" the correct profile, thus creating more problems, because the...

    Awkward Moment

A few years ago, a colleague and I got into a very intense discussing about what pantone color the time clock was, we finally got up and checked and we were both wrong. :(

    Greys Are Yellow-ish

Ya, tried to do that, but even the "only K" blacks are yellow, can't take it out by adjusting. After some trial and error, I am thinking it may the material. I am going to try and profile the soft knit and see what happens. We run with Relative Colorimetric, I am going to try Absolute. Although...

    Greys Are Yellow-ish

Greetings, I am printing on a SOLJET PRO II V SJ-1045EX, with a continuous ink system attached, using Onyx 10.1 rip. We are printing on paper to then transfer to Heavy Knit via dye sublimation. We actually have another earlier version of this printer(1000), both printers started printing greys...

    EPSON GS6000; Big issues

oh, crap paulica, sorry, I thought you were the one who originally posted the question. I understand what you are saying. I was just trying to help out the original question about the GS6000 and "problems with blue/purple/black gradients and solid fields".

    EPSON GS6000; Big issues

Both, but should it matter? You want smooth gradients either way I would think. So, I assume, since your margins are higher, you have custom profiles for each material?

    EPSON GS6000; Big issues

We have 5 GS machines, have not had too many issues. Main issues were caused by the tech when he installed one of the machines, but they replaced a couple heads a few months ago, no issues since. We run adhesive vinyls mostly, some reflective and window perf. We also use Onyx. Do you use the...
