Alcohol free fountain solution & IPA limits

The term "alcohol free fount" is a little like "100% vegetable based ink", they both are incomplete descriptions. Founts designed to run with no IPA will often contain different alcohols, often with greatly reduced volatility, therefore by using such a fount, and continuing to add IPA to it in...

Soft feel burn out or bleed.

agree with D Ink Man ^^ i would be more concerned with the reflex in your mix. If it is an alkali flush based type then it is likely to bleed under a thick/slow drying aqueous coating.

X Rite 939M on two piece cans

as I understand it it is a 0-45 degree unit, which should render it unsuitable, but the info I have is that it has been developed with extra/modified filters to allow it to give a consistent result...even on an aluminium can!!! So far none of these are present in Australia so I am just trying to...

    XL105 Ink

<---- obvious vested interest here! but I can tell you in this part of the world (Australia) the Diamond inks work just fine on XL105s. Heidelberg only onsell inks, at the moment in Australia its K&E and Toyo, they will have inks that work, but so do we inkmakers...who are the ones making it for...

    UV PMS 2965 on Yupo

firstly, it is 10 degrees C here in suburban melbourne! secondly, i was suggesting that it was I who was biased against Pantone (or PAINtone as you rightly point out) my biggest issue with them is not so much their base colour formulations but their PMS formulae. Specifically making grey...

    UV PMS 2965 on Yupo

Biased view of an inkmaker: Yes, Pantones fault! D Ink Man is right that most ink companies cant/wont add pigment fo a small order of a PMS blend, but they may be able to rematch the shade using a non Pantone base ink...IF they have one in their range. Otherwise the above suggestions are all...
