    Massive static problem

As far as I know, there are no magic wand to fix this. I've tried so many....tinsel, small bowls of water...wet rags...humidifiers.... My humidity over the last 2 months got down into single digits a few times, when I removed paper from my stacker, there is a visible arc, followed by pain...

This Printer Sucks.. What Printer Should I Get Instead? Duplexing Postcards.

I hate duplexing. If neither side is variable, run one side at a time. I do it regularly. and that's with a GOOD big printer. We just use questionable paper frequently. I go by the rule in my head. "the fewer rollers that it touches, the better" especially for a cover paper.

    'Rub' issues on IGEN 4

i do not have this issue with Igen at all. Either the paper they printed on was total rubbish, they had their substrate setting incorrect, or something was afoul with the fuser.

    Igen 4 Finishing options

I REALLY wish there were some sort of AFFORDABLE inline perfing system. :) other than that, I like the machine, Stacker on the Igen4 works great 9/10 times. you usually cannot use it for anything over 10pt though....it will jam all over the place. Have to send to the top tray, and babysit it...

So,what are hobbies away from work???

Outside of Print-nerdery and listening to the hilarious crap my kids come up with.... I am BIG into atv's.... Yamaha Raptors to be exact. So far, bombing down a trail or sand dunes in 5th gear is the best way I have found to shut life off. Helmet blocks out the outside world LOL. Also enjoy...

    Best digital press today?

OK, I would agree with that, but I feel like the Nexpress ate just as much if not more. ANNND the 150 dollar water filters for the humidifier I had to change almost weekly in the winter months. interesting, I actually hadn't really thought of added power in the cost comparison...Just figured...

    Best digital press today?

I suppose It will bankrupt you if you do low volumes, maybe? I've not heard that one. I think if you use it the right way, you will be fine. It IS expensive(lease), but what printer isn't? When you don't do much volume, you will feel it for sure, we have. as far as electricity cost goes, I...

    Best digital press today?

Interesting read.... Ive run Igen and Nexpress both now. Igen-pro: speed, consistency, volume. con: Wish front end had more "oomph" Not much in the way of operator support. simple errors sometimes leave you stranded briefly. Nexpress-pro: bada$$ front end software, high quality. con: High...

    Offset paper on an Igen3

I use offset in an Igen constantly. With very mixed results. Really depends on the paper. very textured paper....If it is cold/dry, you might get stacker jams. keeping paper humidified and clean helps this. And, it carries the charge out with it, can occasionally get a little static "zap" when...

Kodak struggles - it's not getting better

same thought here. :( As well as the town of rochester....Though, when I was there a few years back, it seemed like they were already feeling the sting of the digital camera industry. I fear they are "circling the bowl"

    postscript command of mediacolor

we use mediacolor. and set all our weights to the same to avoid confusion by production operators. We also use PrintnetT it has the options in the output module to assign up to 11 colors I think? And...the colors/types show up in the text just like that. we have printed jobs with 9...

    Dynamic Tray Selection

are you saying you want to actually change the info once you've made the file? or set up print software to generate it? I've dealt with multiple tray pulls for quite awhile now. With Xerox Igen, docu-series, and Kodak digis. I may not be much help though-We only use GMC printnet software...

Kodak struggles - it's not getting better

Been seeing changes here and there... my local FE's lost their company fleet cars. Kodak opting instead to pay them for using their own. Which, knowing the cost, seems like will cost them MORE. :) Note: I still prefer Kodak machinery, hate to see this....
