    Colorbar question

It depends on your control device. Some old/simple strip readers such as HDM's oldest Axis Control can measure only at tail. Inpress control reads the image near gripper bar inside the press. Modern Axis Control have 3 fixed positions: top, center and bottom. But you can choose every position...

    Anicolor printing issues

Picture would make it more clear. Is it just too high density or blank areas are covered with ink too? Yesterday i had conversation with Heidelberg's print instractor. His words were that if the density varies across the sheet so problem most likely comes from form blanket worn off. Or probably...

software for building dot gain curves?

Beanz, then look into eci grayconL color bar. It provides good averall process control: solids, trappings, gray balance and 10-step TVI control. It can be measured at one pass. You may use color toolbox for fast measurement and assesment.

software for building dot gain curves?

Gordon, i'm not a native speaker too, but let me please check if i got you right: So we have to print test sheet with fine control strip (like 25-33 fields for every color), then we compare current measured tones with target ones. For example if target curve should have 68% at 50% field, but it...

software for building dot gain curves?

Could you please answer few questions, considering your article? 1. If we use just one curve for all colors we hardly can get into tolerances of ISO 2013 - they have one curve for black and cmy. But black ink has higher dotgain when required density (lightness) is achieved. But our current...

software for building dot gain curves?

Gordo, thank you for your opinion! I do not mean that the way we work now is correct. Sure we have to invest in climate control and water preparation. That's what i'm currently working on. But now iterative calibration keeps us inside of ISO tolerances range. We don't need more than one...

software for building dot gain curves?

Actually, iterations are needed not cause of software, but cause of process fluctuations. If you have rock-solid stable process, i believe one or two iterations should be enough. In our case we need some averaging between test runs. And sometimes we have to make another iteration to compensate...

FREEWARE Spectral Calculator on JavaScript. Help is needed!

My short description of calibration process: Open the page http://rudtp.pp.ru/spectralcalc_en.php Enter your measured data in the top text field. You can easily obtain measures with trial version of X-Rite's Measure Tool. Then click "Color" button to check your solid densities. Correct them and...

FREEWARE Spectral Calculator on JavaScript. Help is needed!

I put that message here because the author of Freeware Spectral Calculator on JavaScript asked me to do so. The software was created in January of 2012, it has been changed thousands of times and has been updated on a daily basis. Recently it was translated to english language by the author...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

Maac, i do know Gordon. He is cool man! That's why i've asked. Cause he suggest the round dot as the best for CtP. Check his blog http://the-print-guide.blogspot.ru/2009/02/am-screening-halftone-dot-shapes.html?m=1 So i wonder if you know why the ellipse is better particullary for anicolor? As...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

Guys, thank you for advises! We've tried 200 lpi. At first glance it looks much better! Mottling is less visible, it's kinda "finer" than it was. Also the image seems to be lighter. Although it should be darker cause of higher dotgain for higher resolution. But it's to early for any conclusions...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

I can make the curve precise enough for particular ink densities. But when it changes a lot, the curve becomes wrong... Densities change every time! We have to use minimal anilox temperature and it changes with the room temperature. It's hard to keep it the same when we can have -30 in winter...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

No Title Sorry, i don't understand what is double cutback. Yes, i saw the attachet pdf... Is it the same with calibration curve? There are 8 curves. I guess some of them are linearization curves and other are calibration ones, right? We use linearization curve for this purpose. See the...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

Maac, thank you sooo much! We didn't have this heidelberg's paper. And it's very useful one! For instance, we use 175 lpi and there is written that this particular resolution has conflict with resolution of anilox! So probably the mottling we have is single-channel moire. I'll try 200 dpi asap...

Do you run the Heidelberg SM-52 Anicolor press

Hello fellows! We also have density issue with SM52-4 Anicolor. Rollers are 8-9-8-8. Densities are too high, especially Cyan and Black. I wonder if it's possible to decrease screened rollers temperature lower than 20deg. C? What the form roller temperature is responsible for? Can we decrease...
