    Duplo DC-646 v Duplo DC-618

We went from a 645 to a 618. We had to drop the 645 because it was End of Life from Duplo and parts were getting scarce. I wonder if you would have the same issue with a DC745 - EOL and parts. The 618 is great.

Older wide format to get into photograph printing? 60" HP Z6100?

@AP90 Adding photo lab type services to an exisiting print shop is very doable. I actually think it is a great opportunity for some small subset of retail facing quickprint shops. I have worked with a couple to do that. DM me if you are interested in that.

    Fuji partnering with Sharp?

This looks to be confirmation that Sharp will be selling press and printers made by Fuji: Sharp to showcase production print at Printing United – The Dead Pixels Society

Xerox Versant 180 - For Sale (Asking $12k)

We sold our "completed a 5 year lease" V80 for the 10% lease buyout to a friend as a favor. So, that is probably your floor. We could have just turned it in - we didn't make anything, but the guy wanted it. People may be worried about potential EOL. The clicks on yours is not bad; it probably...

    fujifilm Revoria Press ec1100

The 4100 and 1100 machines ahave similarities I heard a sales engineer joke: "Subtract 3000 from 4100." There are some improvments in the Fuji machine such as suction feed. Plus the AI buzzword. For photolabs there will be possible improvement. I think the 1100 is ways off - Fuji hasn't...

    Fuji partnering with Sharp?

Perhaps Fuji is using Sharp for sales is also a way to fill in on the service side until Fuji has a large enough service team to support sales. Or, it could be an efficient way to sell the smaller Apeos machines. Fuji has been hiring a lot and slowly adding territories that sell Revoria as their...

    Versant 4100 Vs Ricoh 7210

Mostly simple paper jams. Also sensors that get dirty and shut down things too frequently. Nothing big.

    Versant 4100 Vs Ricoh 7210

We went from a Versant 80 to a Versant 4100 and also had Docu 700 long ago. We loved the reliability of the V80 but the V4100 reliability has not been quite as good. Still, we have good service from Xerox and even though we have made more service calls on the V4100 we have never been down very...

hp Latex alternative to Lexjet distributor

The word we got is that hp is requiring exclusivity going forward so Lexjet would have to drop Canon, Epson etc. We have heard they will not do that. Lexjet loaded up on hp product but are running out now and cannot get more. Hence we need a new distributor. In my group that means about 12...

    Nexfinity vs Iridesse Vs Igen

Raminmd, you mention "not quite photographic quality" - an aside, we ran some tests of Felix Schoeller ePhoto on a XeroxV4100and it is very, very close to photo quality. Probably fine for a consumer grade photo lab. Lab owners ( me - 40 years running a photo lab) are very conservative on this...

    low cost printer

Low cost of operation will be likely be only available with more expensive machines. Low cost printers will likely have a high cost of operating. Here is a lot of advice on volume label making: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHqQjvDgwkJ03Dy80ksNEOg

    VERSANT 2100 PAPER JAM ISSUE

Our V4100 has multiple sensors in the paper paths that can cause shutdown when they are dirty. The main culprit seems to be the sensor above our 3 hole punch finisher - every sheet has to run through there. Regular cleaning has greatly reduced jams. YMMV

    v280 clear toner?

You have to swap components out as there are just 4 drums, etc. We saw samples from the new small Versant and compared to Iridesse they were pretty unimpressive. We had a V80 and considered the swap out capability on the new smaller Versants. We ended up going with the larger Versant which...

    Dropping College Degree Boosts Hiring

Yes. The assumption is that the collge degree is about training. Not so much I think. It is more about getting into business networks and shaping buisness communication styles. See the excellent essay: How I Ditched My Poverty Tells.

    Why do they reject sRGB???

We come at this from the opposite direction having started as a photolab. Additive color spaces are all we dealt with for years. On the rare occasion a CMYK file would sneak through our online or kiosk order systems our silver halide paper / wet processor printer would literally print the file...

PlansPlansPlans, We Had a 5XX series Xerox for a very short time and turned it in because it didn't do what we needed. We later got a Xerox V80 (Versant) and was very happy with it including good reliability. If I were you I would consider a entry level Xerox Versant. As a new machine you should...
