base coat

i was wondering , the future of printing industry whether we will print on actual paper or the process of printing will completely change as time goes, What if the primer(base coate) is applied before printing any coated stock or the stock which is having low capacity of drying, ? i wonder this will create a USP(ultimate selling point) to a print shop or will it be a disaster .
As the lacquer on the paper will print good or bad is still a wonderland thought for me, i have ordered a seigwerk company base primer for experiment and wish me luck and send me suggestions to get a better output for the result,so we all can share our xperience.

regards
arshad.
