Calculating Roll length based on thickness left

Do any of you web-pressman have a handy formula for calculating the length of paper left on a roll based on a caliper measurement of thickness? We are not "calculus-type" people around here and need an equation where we substitute the paper caliper, and core size into variables in an equation and calculate the length left on rolls of paper. We would like to use this to figure out how much material we have left on rolls for our wide-format inkjet printer.
