Can anyone recommend an inkjet or laser printer for this job?

I have a request to do between 1,000 and 2500 8.5 x 11 sheets of 20# bond with moderate ink coverage.
No photos or large solids, just text with a small logo.

A machine that can do small type (less than 8 points) on card stock would also be good down the road but not necessary now.

Hi. I'd out that inkjet would be cost effective except some High end riso color inkjet machines but they really expensive new and may be complex and expensive to maintain if purchased used. Laser printer would be most versatile device for your order, you can expect easier service, more common parts, service techs and supplies. Print quality will be better well. The rule of thumb - the more expensive device you buy than less cost per page you may expect. A piece of junk for $400 from Staples will cost most on the supplies... It would be helpful to know your budget, your request, how often will it be? weekly/monthly? Do you have other uses for the potential device? Are you a printshop if not, what industry are you in? Do you have use for larger size, like 12x18?
AT some point, 1K -to 2.5K it would make sense to turn to offset press but only in case if all pages are static...
