Color Guide for Print Buyers?

I'm looking for something similar to the IDEAlliance DEER poster that can be given to a customer/designer/purchaser to help explain color as it relates to print. Obviously this isn't a topic that can be completely covered with a simple infographic but I was hoping that it could be given to customers to help outline what is needed and should be expected.

Additionally how does everyone else tell customers that their color is crap not because of what you did but what they did?

Lucky you! You have an opportunity to shine.
Rather than use a generic document - why not develop one yourself as a marketing piece that addresses your, and your client's, specific needs?
I've attached a document, not to copy, but to give you some ideas. Many of the top printshops have developed something similar for their customers.
You can hire me to help ;-)

On the other topic, You can't tell a customer that their color is crap. That is your subjective qualification. If you provide them with the info they need to set and achieve their expectations then, if they are disappointed in the color you deliver they will understand why.

Thanks Gordo for the direction, we are going to start identifying and compiling our standards. I know where to find you as we progress in this project.

Nice! That is a great guide for something that we have wanted to create for a long time, but haven't been able to nail down what we need to say. Thank you for the link!

I just received the IDEAlliance "Guide to Print Production v13.0" which has a lot of good laymen info that could be used.
