cp bourg bb3002 error -BB3002 timeout translation did not respond while testing the encoder

hi everyone i will greatly appreciate any assistance in resolving this error..it all started by the carriage hitting the home position violently. tech checked and replaced the rotary encoder, only for the problem to escalate and now the carriage is hitting both ends of travel guide violently

Dont know the machine but a encoder reads movement does that one have to be programmed or what the encoder plugs into?

encoder is rotating ok as it is fixed on one of the gears of the carriage belt
