Fiery Job Parameters delay in opening

Hi,

Versant 80 with EX80 print server.

All of a sudden whenever we open job parameters on a job in the fiery we are experiencing about 30-40sec delay in the window actually opening. If we click anything during this wait the screen fades out like it's about to crash but eventually comes back in and opens the parameters.

Only seems to be the opening of the job parameters, once open we can browse through all tabs with no delay. Even in the workstation screen we can browse about no problem. All ok when processing jobs, normal times etc.

We are still on 5.8 as I hate to update unless I have a problem but maybe now is that time. Plenty of room on hard drive partitions.

Anybody experience this before, anything worth trying before updating to 6. ( I presume this update is going to be as near to uninstalling and reinstalling).

Try a different version of Command Workstation.

why dont you try opening on command workstation on another desktop

Cheers, never thought of that, have got so use to the supplied tower completely forgot about running it off other computers. Will give that a shot tomorrow.

try to open the paper catalog and check how many paper types are there.
There is a bug in the Fiery software thats duplicate paper catalog entries. Fiery issued a this patch for this, Customer Service.

You may be on to something, command workstation is crashing when I try to open the paper catalog. (via remote access)
Can't get into it at all, have to keep restarting CW.

Would the Versant 80 need to be on to access the catalog? Currently off.

Ok, so I managed to open the Paper Catalog and there was about 2300 listed. My Custom Paper Settings are listed and locked of which I have about 30.
It's very clichy, too many clicks and it all just crashes.

How many should be in there? Will I just start deleting the non locked ones?

Started deleting in small numbers taking my time, as I went on it was getting more and more responsive so I could delete more each time. Got rid of all of them and Fiery is CW completely back to normal, no delays at all.

Really appreciate the help everyone.

For what it's worth I did manage to install CW 6 on my laptop (much higher spec than EX80) which didn't have the delay in opening the job properties but I still couldn't open the Paper Catalog on this without it crashing.
