Image size smaller at tail

Been having some registration problems with our Shinohara 65iip (c. 1986). Unit one is great. Unit two the image at the tail is 1/32 narrower than the image at the gripper (and also narrower than unit one.) Triple checked packing, undercut and all that. Put two of the same kind of blanket, checked packing to bearer height and it's right where it needs to be.

This is with 80# gloss coated book. If we put in matte coated or uncoated the size difference between the tails on the two units is about .005".

The size difference stays consistent, so I'm less inclined to think that it is gripper slip, but I haven't ruled that out.

Grain direction of gloss paper is short (19x25 sheet).

Any suggestions? (besides buying a new press)
