IntelliTrax Auto Scanning System

Is anyone using this system? IntelliTrax Auto Scanning System.

What do you think about it?

We are thinking about getting it and adding it to our half size 5 color press.

Currently we are using a handheld spot densitometer.
Thanks.

Forgot to mention that we would be adding the vipPAQ to this for full auto scanning without having to pull sheets.

We are using the X-Rite IntelliTrax scanner loaded with Lithotel closed loop software. Installed the device about a month ago. It takes a bit of time for the pressmen to get confident that what they see on the sheet is the same as what the display is telling them. Our pressmen never used any type of density device before this just the old eyeballs so its a bit of a learning curve for them.
If your pressmen are already used to taking density measurements with a handheld then they will love the scanner. Takes about 15 seconds to read a sheet and display 6 print units on our press.

Saint, you have me confused. Intellitrax is an offline scanning device for sheetfed printing to scan and display the density of eack ink key zone and adjust that key if required to bring the density to a standard. VipPAQ is a device for inline scanning and display for Flexo and Gravure presses, sorry for my confusion but how do the two devices link together. From your post it apears you intend to add the VipPAQ to the IntelliTrax.

Its roughly 30Xs the price of a handheld and about 120Xs better, assuming you have about 120 patches on your half-size control strip. It also forces a consistent black backing which is rare with handheld measurements. I wish for spot reading capabilities with the same instrument but that's my only gripe about the hardware. (Techkon Spectrodrive can do spot readings) Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll share our experiences with the ITX.

been working with the intellitrax system for about 3 months now and am very impressed with its performance. Its not without a few issues but compared with what ive worked with from another manufacturers closed loop system the intellitrax has it hands down. Your prepress dept will need to be really on top of how they lay down color bars for the unit to work seamlessly but as long as placement of color bars and type of color bars are correct it will work fine. We run ours in a closed loop mode and ive found that as long as your cip data is accurate intellitrax will get up to what most would consider salable color in 2 pulls of 100 sheets. This thing really shines when it comes to color patches and crossover pages that must match between multiple forms.
