Linotronic 500 Help

Can anyone help us out. We have a used Linotronic 500 that we want to hook up to our Eagle Rip 3.0 this is on a Windows 2000 op. system.
We are curently running a Lino 300 on the same system. When we hook up the 500 there seems to be a comunication problem. I think it is a software problem.
When we send a job to print, the numbers on the read out are all jumbled up.
I believe the software that the previous owner was using was MS DOS???

Please let us know if there is a way to reboot this or upload the new software.

do you have the same cable setup. lr2 li5 ? is one machine a densy or recorder only. ie 300QD or 500QR. as I recall on the older machine you had to set the communication method on the control panel.
