hi,
i own a canon w6400 running photoshop cs3 and have just gone from official 'canon inks' to compatible inks bought off ebay (where else!)....
at the momment i'm having a horendous time with printouts bein sooooo irregular with colours coming out all wrong...
black and white is coming out blue, red is coming out orange and i dont even want to talk about skin tones...

what i'd like to find out is my fate sealed with compatible cheaper inks or is any1 using compatible inks and getting outstanding results.....

any info or advice would be greatly appreiciated

The first and only rule of using "cheap compatible" inks is don't. The color match and consistency is awful. I learned that lesson long ago. If you must, buy from a known source that you have researched and has been around for awhile. They should have profiles and tech support for their inks. As with everything else you get what you pay for.

Hopefully you can purge your system and put Canon inks back in.

HI there

Im glad you posted this as im just about to make the decision whether or not to buy refills for my
W6400. The ink is SO expensive.

Can I ask what company you purchased your inks from??? Ive done alot of research online and found one company who seem like they know what they are talking about called www.advancedinkjetsystems although im yet to make a purchase.

Would be interested to know if you have sorted the problem out with your inks? and if you are still using refillable inks? Is it printing ok now??

hi mate,

wish i could give you good news but its not.. first up it is advancedinkjetsystems i buy off... (go with ebay its cheaper, there shop is called: imports2005, cheaper than web site prices).....

ok heres what happened next:

printouts on cheaper paper look terrible

printouts on canvas look horrendous

printouts on expensive glossy paper look ok

my real major issues are: reds look orange, sepias turn green, black and white has touch of colour in it??? (usually horrible blue!)

ive bought a colourmunki for profiling but this hasnt helped much, although i did notice a slight change....

so at the moment im not very confident in what comes out!!! please keep in touch, you might find it really good..... maybe its my lack of knowledge of the profiling side, maybe ive not configured it correctly?... all i know its all gone a bit strange, so if your business is colour perfection then i'd stick with yer expensive inks, you do pay for what you get!
