Pitstop 6.53 Action for changing ink density?

Hello, Is there a way to convert ink density in images only in a PDF with Pitstop 6.53, by making an action lets say to convert all images with 280% density to 300% or vice versa?
Thanks for your help

It's all built into the CMYK output profile. If you're wanting to convert CMYK to CMYK to reduce ink density then you need Callas pdfToolbox 4 or PitStop Pro 08 to use them.

Thanks for your help! I just became a member yesterday, but I always come here to learn new workarounds etc. I always look forward to reading your responses and Gordo's!
Thanks again!

You can perform this function with Acrobat's Preflight, or with the Convert Colors tool. Just have to have the appropriate profiles - but those are easy enough to build.

But that's a standard ICC conversion which will ruin the black plate.

I don't think "ruin the black plate" is a fair statement, Matt. You have some control over which elements get converted and which get preserved. But, your point is taken, device link support would be very useful and/or a more extensive set of color management controls.

I don't think it is an unfair statement. If you're converting from one CMYK profile to a different one the black gets reseparated and usually in a very unpleasant way. If you're reseparating from Profile A to Profile A to simply reduce the ink limit then no, it's not ruined. There really is not much in the way of control for how you fix images with too much ink coverage. You can write an action simply enough to select those images and convert them. But that does it through two ICC profiles and the connection space. Taking advantage of a device link profile to do the conversion requires Callas pdfToolbox, v3 or v4, or PitStop Pro 08.
