Do Rodel Hickey Pickers work? I'm printing on some horrible paper now days supplied by Trade customers, and I wondered if a Hickey Picker might be worth a try.
I have not had a great deal of success with Hickey pickers. We needed to keep light colour and dark colour rollers on hand because the minute 'tufts' used to hold onto ink and you could never really wash them up completely. Also they would work for a while and then the roller would become so saturated with ink that they wouldnt be effective. Give them a try and see what the results are for yourself. They are a lot cheaper than putting a sheet cleaner on your press.
used rodel rollers with pretty decent success for many years. The key is to be sure and remove them from the press every couple of weeks and give them a good cleaning by soaking them in solvent and then scraping them with an ink knife. After doing this a couple of times i take a scotchbrite pad to the the roller surface to get the "nap" of the roller to stand up.
