Soft-Touch Coating

Hi, everyone.

Is it worth trying to use a spot soft-touch coating on a hardcover book's dust jacket? Something tells me that it may rub off in no time. But I'd rather ask professionals than guess on my own and perhaps miss up on an opportunity.

are you useing a uv curing system? We have applied soft touch sevral times and have had no problems.

Thanks for the response! I'm not a printer, just a beginning book designer. I don't know yet who's gonna print this particular project. I just wonder whether I should specify soft-touch. I'm sure it'd turn out well enough. But how does it stand up to wear and tear over time, say, a few years? We are talking the dust jacket here, not the inside pages.

With out doing extensive rub testing, I think it would last for several years. But once again you need to make sure who ever is going to produce it, that it is in fact going to be a UV application. With UV curing, the coating is cured instantly and that in it self gives you better adhesion and you can lay a thicker coat for a longer lasting product.

If you want you can email me your info and I can send you some samples of what we have done in the past. If for anything you would have good samples to show to your vendor of choice.

Leo,

I'm happy to here the samples were well received and to answer your question. We specialize in medium to large runs.

If you would like a quote on any of the options let me know.

Thank you

PS. I tried to respond to the personal message area and it wouldn't work. that's never happened before. Weird.
