Trouble with a 1988 Perfecta Seypa 115 TV-2 cutter safety system

We sent out the A170 and A175 boards to be repaired and had a separate company confirm they are in working order.
When the test mode is activated all of the sensors are working correctly as shown in the 6 green LED lights on the board.
The SGS (Infrared Light Guard) red trip light is on and will not allow a cut cycle to run. I also swapped some relays to see if the
condition would change, and no difference in the LED lights or trip condition.

Any recommended troubleshooting procedures? Has anyone had success in retrofitting this model with a newer safety system?
Its in excellent mechanical condition and last year we upgraded to a Micro cut computer. It would be a shame to junk it.

Thanks in advance
