Inky Little Fingers Ltd. is an ISO9001 accredited Commercial Printer and we are looking for an Apprentice Print Finisher to join our production team

This position is a full apprenticeship in Print Finishing and provides an opportunity to combine paid work with a formal training programme. The scheme is operated by Inky with support from the British Print Industry Federation. Apprenticeships last as long as it takes to achieve competence in the job, but we expect that this apprenticeship will take a commitment of between 2-3 years to complete. On the successful completion of this apprenticeship you will have a nationally recognised qualification. The training element is partly work based “on the job” and partly classroom based at an external site.

Print Finishing is one of the most skilled and important roles in a modern print manufacturing environment. The job of the Print Finisher is to take the printed sheets that are produced by various printing processes and convert them into the actual finished product. These products include books, manuals, magazines, posters and leaflets.

Print finishers use a variety of computer controlled finishing machinery. This includes guillotines, perfect binding machines, saddle stitching lines, automatic laminating lines, creasing machines, folding machines and more. Inky expects their print finishing staff to become multi-skilled and to operate a wide range of machinery.

Print finishers must be numerate and literate in order to be able to understand the instructions for each job. They must be computer literate as they will need to be able to operate some computer applications in order to carry out their daily work.
