Variable Imposition

Doing more and more variable work and was wondering what others out there do for imposition if the end user wants their stuff in a certain order.

My problem: I've got a 5gb PDF with 23,000 unique names on both sides (46,000 pages) and it's going to run 3 up on a 12.5 x 19 sheet on a KM 6501. It's just going to get trimmed down in the bindery & boxed up, but the customer wants everything in order. The tools at my disposal are a Creo RIP (with imposition), Preps and PDF Crackerjack imposition Acrobat plugin. I'm thinking Preps, but would like some other input. Thanks!

just use the cut and stack option on the creo. it will do exactly what you want. You would be better off using a variable data format like vps but it will work with the pdf, just take a long time to process. Also you might be better to group your records into smaller batches to print. It will make cutting and keeping everything organized a little easier. We do variable postcards almost every day that have to stay in order and we do them in groups of 250 sheets because that is easy for us to cut to keep them in order.

haha! That was way too simple! I tested it with a small batch and it worked. I guess I never realized what the cut and stack option does for variable work. Thanks a TON!!
